| But i bought an eyelash curler for the first time yesterday coz my lashes are getting sparse and thin and dry and bleh and I'm trying to wean myself off mascara a bit...and i REALLY love curlers! They work super good on me...but my mum's all 'it's gonna tug your lashes at the root and weaken the base blah blah.' Is this true? embarassed gullible noob | |

| I don't think so..I use eyelash curlers every day and my lashes don't seem any weaker. If you are wearing mascara curl them first, curling them after mascara might make them snap I think. | |

| nope. only AFTER using mascara it could get really bad, but I find it helps me a little more using it after ONE small coat of mascara, then adding another coat over it. you could get a clear mascara.
besides. this is a rule makeup artists cheat on - so I doubt it'll kill you!

| Yes if you really need some mascara before curling, wipe the wand around the edge of the bottle to take off the excess and use that to put on a small coat. You can add more after curling.
(although my lashes are long and plush so I *HAVE* to always wipe the wand till I can't wipe any more off at all. If I use anymore than that they just look huge and stupid.)

| You can get moisturizing mascara....so I would try that if you're having issues with lashes drying out and stuff. I'm not sure who makes it, but I think I saw it in Shoppers Drug Mart. | |

| I use eyelash curlers all the time and have for a couple of years now - and I heat them up really hot with a hairdryer first too, and they're completely fine. AND I curl them before AND after mascara. And they're perfecto.
So don't stress! |
