| ]I am going to kind of get a make over for my birthday, and refresh my style over the summer. Any suggested brand of makeup? Just go to walmart or somewhere else? When searching what should I look for? @_@ I want to get something natural looking, yet a little artsy ... if that makes sense. I didn't know if I wanted to go for a certain look if I shoudl go to a certain brand. I have no clue about this stuff though and no one to really ask were I live. |

| it takes a LOT of different products to get a certain look. I used CG foudation, a revlon podwer, a maybelline eyeliner, a hot topic shadow...its never a good idea to stick to one brand, because that brand wont have everything youre looking for.
depends on what look you want. we know you want natural, yet artsy. but can you add to that? do you want a bronze glow? try a bonnebell bronzer. would you like a matte finish to your skin? try a CG foundation. give us some details as to how you want you look, and then we can build from there! ^.^

| Each brand has something that they make very well.
I LOVE Lor'real's eyeliners but I hate the powders they make.
Covergirl has awesome powders and foundations but I wouldn't use anything else from them.
Max Factor's mascaras rock
Revlon has gorgeous lipsticks and glosses
If you have lots of money to spend, you could go to your local MAC or Sephora and ask one of the sales girls to reccomend products for everything. |

| Well I have never really tried anything metallic. Only eyeshadows I have ever done are really basic ones which are usually nuetrals. I do want to try something new. I am just a bit afraid of buying something totally drastic and not be able to use it or it just be the totally wrong colors. Thats why I said natural since well if it looks natural it can't be that hard to use, though I am only assuming such. I do want to avoid using foundation though since my skin is clean. Though is there anythign else rather then foundation I could use to make it look more fresh? Add: Oi I hope you guys don't mind me swiping some of the images from the make up section.

| Buying bright colors is fun! You can always tone it down if you think it's too much by itself. For example, if you got a really bright emerald green and then a gold that went nicely with it, you could use the green like an eyeliner and blend it into the gold. That way, it wouldn't be super dramatic, but certainly noticeable :] |

| I guess you could use a tinted moisturiser or something and to kind of finish your look use some powder at the end? I don't use foundation mostly for the same reason as you, but a good powder still seems to kind of finish it.
Ooh maybe you should get a mineral foundation! Check out the topics about mineral cosmetics.

| ah, you mean makeup like discodollies!
well, you COULD use tinted moisturizer with powder like soraya said, but since you want a more natural look,
try translucent powder with a BIG, fluffy blush brush.
a little of that stuff goes a long way!
do what I did -
buy a lot of bright colours, and experiment!
Ive found that I can rock any [and every!] colour under the rainbow - its all about how its applied. just practice. I bought pretty much every eyesmudge from hot topic and found that red looks best on me.
but for naturals,
go for golds, bronzes, greens, and pinks!
yesss, I said pink. :]
for lips, stick to pink lip balms, and sheer glosses - even some nude lip colours!
and if you want a mascara,
stick to the basics and get maybelline's great lash in the pink and green tube. :]

| watch disco's tutorial on youtube, she has a neutrals one. even if mac is too expensive, look up the colours she says she uses and then find similar ones from cheaper brands.
i dislike foundation...maybe i should get a powder or something like teh puffy suggested for you.

| Theres a covergirl compact of 4 eyeshadows, I beleive it's called 'Coffee Shop' or something like that. I own it and it's absolutely fabulouse. It's crazy inexpensive (5-6$) and comes with 2 matte sorts of colours (light beige and chocolate brown) and 2 sparkly colours (gold and sparkly tan) They look natural but can still be used to create a fun, artsy look. Plus, what do you have to loose? |

| Okeday so now I have a hair cut! This is what it was like before. This is what it is like now. Major problem is, I do have makeup on! I can't tell. I tried doing my eyeshadow like a darker pink on the lid and around with a lighter one. I tried to use some brush I found with my old makeup. >_< How should I be applying this stuff so I can actually tell it is on? This is old shity eyeshadow from only god knows when, coudl it be that? I wanted to just try out different colors like some suggeted. |

| Ooohhhh you totally rock that haircut! It's super sexy!
I think you should start off just using an eyeliner on the top. You've got really pretty big eyes and they'd look gorgeous if they were defined a little better. I wouldn't go for black because I think it'd look a little harsh, but brown or grey would be really cute!
And definately MASCARA! It'll open up your eyes and make them nice and bright.
Your skin looks really clear too, I'd just go for a convertible colour/creme blush that's like a watermelon pink shade to oomph it up

| hm, I know EXACTLY what brand you need.
wet n wild!
dirt cheap and available at every walmart, kmart, walgreens, and cvs.
they have everything you could ever need.
I even made a topic about it in my section of PR. so looky looky!
http://limecrime.forumotion.com/Product-Reviews-f6/wet-n-wild-t778.htm
and here is their website.
wnwbeauty.com
they have a lot of eyeshadows, eyeliners, and mascaras for you to try! look up everything you'd like, write/print out a list,
go shopping,
then experiment!
btw, the pink is sheer, but I bet the flash from your camera washed it out a little - happens to EVERYONE. :]
and kiki, if you want a translucent powder, try CG's!
orr for a cheap mineral powder, try milani's. :]]]

For eyeliner, since you're new to makeup I'd just go for a (very) soft pencil one to start out. Or if you can get your hands on one, the liquid eyeliners that look (and are the same size/shape) as pens with a long, pointy foam nib. All you do, is pull your eye slightly taught and start drawing the line. It's usually easier to do it in short dashes which all join up. Try to keep the liner as close to your lashes as you can and if your line goes squint or it looks shaky, just take your pinky and lightly smudge the line. It'll give a smokey doe-eyed kinda look and take the edge of the harsh line! Unless you're superwoman, it'll probably look like somebody's punched you the first time you try it. But hey, it happens to everyone so just keep practising and don't rush!
