| Okay, I live like 20 minutes away from New York, so I'm really excited about sharing my "knowledge" of the city.
Soho has fantastic shopping- some are expensive, a lot are cheap. Chill has Kiki-ish clothing for a great price. That's just off of Canal.
Canal Street itself is fun, good designer knockoffs, glass pipes (doubt your after those though) and cheap electronics. You can get gold teeth made too, haha. Oh, and if a little chinese lady comes up to you all "Handbag?! Gucci? Prada? Coach?" and you want really good knockoffs (like 10 times better than on the street) follow her. Don't freak if she takes you to a shitty salon and leads you up a narrow staircase, its all routine.
If you want authentic just-off-the-boat Italian food, Little Italy starts at Canal and Mulberry. I would recommend one of the smaller restaurants, they are always the best. They have good bakeries if you want to try pastries. Don't dance with the Italian men that may ask you, unless you want something grabbed.
Times Square I could go on about, but I'm sure its in your guide book. Look for the two-story H&M(not exactly in Times Square, but close) and of course the Macy's. Oh, and definitely check out the Manhattan Mall. The store Strawberry is cute, and theres a shoe store in there that I got a pair of bright yellow boots for $15.
I doubt your interested in Broadway, but I would recommend going to a show. Spring Awakening is really popular right now. (I'm a broadway junkie, I had to put it in).
I think I covered the lot of it. Its early in the morning so my brain's still tired.
Enjoy! | |

| That's awesome! I love the music, and I am probably going to go in September, once the hype dies down. I heard about these "groupies" while waiting in line for Company, and having to deal with that kind of social situation somewhat frightens me. By the way, you can just call me Kayla, if you want. | |

| oooh kiki, i know the one you are talking about, but i dont remember the name. it was like, 30 feet from the hotel we were staying in. if you are in times square & manage to find a Doubletree Suites, it should be close. like, if you are facing the hotel from the street, it will be a few spaces down on the left. i dunno if that helps, but good luck! |

| okays im kind of sad...my parents are a bit bleh and we didnt get to do everything i wanted :[
like they wouldnt take my across to the statue of liberty...we went on a boat trip round manhattan which went right past her and was nice because we got to see stuff we wouldnt have otherwise and then later in the trip, I wanted to go actually across but they just decided to go on another boat trip down past her and back again.
and we didnt get to go to any museums...we didnt have much time.
and i wanted bloomingdales and macys bags ofc but my mum wasnt feeling great so we didnt spend much time in them...just like up and back down a few floors to say we'd been.
we went to ellens 3 times! hehe twice for dinner (we found it by accident on the second night there) and then on the thursday afternoon to kill time (kicked out of hotel at 12, not going to airport til 6...)
we went to john's pizza on 44th street and it was good :] we read about it in the guide book on our first night and it was PACKED and still so when we went back later...and we tried a second night and it was stuffed again but we finally got in the third time and then had lunch there on the last day so it was really scrummy.
we didnt really have much time for shopping...
we got tickets for the grey line tour bus which was good because we saw a tonne of stuff i probably wouldnt otherwise and the guide points it out, including fun stuff. we went downtown, uptown & on the night loop.
but yeh...can i come and stay with you kayla? or superlover?! im a little bit in love with it...and i dont feel like i saw much. i mucho wanna live there :[ *jealous*
but man it was sweaty...didnt help that, ok my story; got into the room and the bell boy guy put on the AC for us full blast. We had just came in so it was nice at first but soon we were freezing so my dad turned it down. Later we come in after dinner and are going to bed and I'm warm so I ask my dad to make it cooler. I wake up later and I'm sweating! Like really...soaked. I wake him and ask him to fix the AC. My dad has glasses...and in the dark, without them, he fiddles with it. I run a cold bath and swap to the bed nearer the AC...I'm still sweating and crying and like "new york isnt worth this..." In the morning, it turns out he'd turned it up and onto HEAT! I nearly killed him...but was happy from then on.
but yeh...im in lurve but i wanna do all the museums and galleries and stuff and places. we went thru chinatown and little italy on the bus...but not there to look. we went to greenwich to go to girlprops and we left right after...i didnt get see washington or union squares...bleh i guess there's only so much you can do in 5 and a half days but when my parents need like 4hours for a nap and a shower in the afternoon...i mean ok shower before dinner but you dont need that long :[ | |

| Of course my dear. My mom would be thrilled at the chance to hear a scottish accent in the flesh. As would I, of course. EDIT: I'm sorry you didn't get a chance to do a lot of the fun stuff. You missed a hell of a lot, but you can always come back without incompetent parents. I can't believe you went on a bus tour, but I guess that's what foreiners do | |
