Art Major~ updated 2(not pretty~! warning!)

OOkk!

So, I do art at school and for our HSC here in australia, we ahve to do this thing called a 'major work'

I'm basing mine on the phrase 'Playing the Victim'. its going to be a series of five quite large paintings that are all related to victims in some way.

1On the far left there'll be a comic-style painting of an actres being strangled with razor wire, but instead of looking scared she'll either be filing her nails or have her hand on her hips, with a speech bubble saying something like "Could you just get on with it? I'm late for the oscars."

2 This will either be identity theft, fashion victim, murder, rape or neglect. This one and number four are designed to shock the viewer in that they'll be realistically rendered rather than stylized and they'll also have themes that people can sort of relate to eg. anorexia.

3 In the middle! This will be a slightly blurry, almost dreamlike picture of those feet with a toe tag like you see in a morgue. the toe tag will be in really sharp focus with the feet slightly blurry, although semi realistic.

4 This one's called 'Victim to the status quo'. A ring of children playing ring around a rosie with a taller, teenaged girl in the middle who is still, and probably screaming, or crying. The children will have an extreme motion blur, with the colours of their clothes -almost- blending into each other. I'm thinking of adding the words 'we all fall down' into the bottom right corner. Also the kids might be the girl growing up, or just similarly dress children, while the girl in the middle is dressed differently.

5 Five i haven't quite decided on, but i want it to be kind of funny like the first one is. i was thinking maybe a matrix style sort of thing with someone flying through the air, but with the harness and suchlike clearly visible. i dunno.

So girls i was wondering if i could get your thoughts on the idea?
and if you so happen to have any pictures related to them, especially number 1, that would be reeeaally good so i can stick them in my process diary.

sounds amazing. and i immediately thought of lichtenstein when reading number 1.

mostly because most of her art is of children.

Have you got any further with your ideas?

I especially like the idea for the first one, it's gonna be great to see what the finalised idea is. I get a really strong image of an actress type holding a martini glass and a big ass, fake cheesy grin plastered on her face when I think of that. I don't think the speech bubble idea goes with it that well- thought bubbles or text boxes would look better, I reckon. But that's just me. Maaan, I bet it's gonna come out good, no matter what you decide to do.

I also really love the third one. I think that one's going to be really great.

But back to the topic, what kind of paint did you use?
Are you still in school? It's not fair, when I did art in school it was pish. We never got do do exciting stuff, we were just encouraged to do something simple that had been done before..I had the worst art department in Scotland..

its just acrylic paints, and yeah im in year 12 (last year for aussies)
