| It kills your skin! It's just as bad or even worse as sunbaking in the sun. Apparently solariums can emit up to 5 times as much UV radiation as the midday sun in the summer (and that's talking about Aussie sun which is STRONG!).
Of course it's up to you, I just think spray tan is a better way to go if you wanna brown up. |

| hmm yeah true. I'm a tan addict, factor 4 sun spray for me XD I honestly would probably still go to a solarium because there's barely any spray tan places here, and the ones that are have got a bad rep (i've seen girls coming out all streaky!!).
oh wells.

| See, I wouldn't even DREAM of going to a solarium. Despite the whole skin cancer thing, it can completely burn your skin and make you look like a 100 year old lady. And you can get cataracs (sp?), too. Personally, I just don't think a tan is worth all that. Then again, I like being pale. |

| Ew ew ew! Tanning is SOOOOO bad for you! You'll get old looking and wrinkly and have icky melanomas all over you!
Ewwwww....
I'm so opposed to tanning. Stick to spray on.
My aunt tans, even though she had skin cancer and had bits cut off. She STILL tans!

| i hate tans. just expressing my opinion along with everyone else im a white and pasty girl. i didnt sit in the shade on holiday like i usually do this year but i still wore my factor 30. but yeh if i *was* gonna fake tan...i'd go for spray. if you get a good place then it can work. ive seen some people who dont look orange and streaky but i'd rather be a bit streaky than have skin cancer or something. | |

| Make sure you have parental consent or whatev. its called. My friend had to call home when she went because the people needed parent's permission (if you're under 18).
Maybe that was just the one place, but it makes sense seeing as tanning is extremely dangerous. I would advise not to, but its your skin.

| I look better with a tan. My skin is naturally slightly olive, so when i've had no sun it go's a wierd colour. | |

| I like being pale alright, but I've started using gradual tanning lotion on my legs because they are bright bright white and it's embarrassing after a summer at the beach, somehow the rest of me got tanner through my 30 spf but my legs are still ghostly. The gradual tan stuff is pretty nice, I recommend it. No streaks or orange hands. |

| A girl in Australia was recently in the media. She went to a solarium about 10 times and, coupled with normal exposure to the sun, contracted melanoma. And it wasn't just on her skin, it spread throughout her entire body and couldn't be treated. Today she passed away at only 26. Is a tan really worth that? | |

| Nooo she went more than 10 times. But still, you could get skin cancer (and/or seriously damage your skin) after just one visit. Read this article. It's on the girl who died. It said this in it, "Ms Oliver said the cancer had occurred after 20 visits to a solarium in her early 20s". So, she got cancer after just 20 visits.
It's not safe, and frankly it's stupid. There's this huge debate now over the banning of solariums. There are other, better ways to tan! |

| yeah but you can still get cancer if you just go for a walk in the sun, also if you eat steak, drink occasionally, or dont drink at all...
and that gradual tan stuff is good but it rubs off! mum got white lines aorund her legs from her boots rubbing it off!
