Masks
copyright Shauna McShane
The mask was worn not to hide
But to show the world a false eye.
The laugher is loud and shrill
Donning Tragedy has become a thrill.
When one can cry and attention gain
Why would Comedy still remain?
When one can falsify their life
Why feel Tragedy's strife?
The mask is worn to become,
Flashing eyes hidden from the sun.
Truth leaves and lies remain,
Falsehood is the truth retained.
A forged life, and fraudulent passions,
Slandering one's own true fashion.
A mask is worn to beguile and deceive,
Deluding others to falsely believe.
Illusions
copyright Shauna McShane
Accuracy is wrong, lies are truth,
Rectitude lives only for youth.
Where the candor breathes in whispers,
Verity only remains in pictures.
Dark eyes shatter all you know,
Illusion is their only show.
Precision lies in their hands,
Veracity isn't in this land.
Loss of candor, loss of truth,
Where is hope for these youth?
None is heard in shuddering whispers,
As fire destroys truth's last pictures.
