| Okay, so DuWop released the Lip Venom Sin like a month ago and Twilight is getting it's own line woo doggy http://twilightbeauty.com/ " The Twilight beauty franchise has been separated into two lines. Volturi Twilight, named for a ruling vampire clan in the “Twilight” series, is aimed largely at teens and is launching the middle of next month at Hot Topic, Torrid and Ulta. Luna Twilight, a play on the moon themes in “Twilight,” is targeting older girls and teenagers’ mothers and is launching in the middle of next month at Nordstrom and Dillard’s. DuWop is also a part of the Twilight initiative and has introduced the lip stain Twilight Venom for $16 on Sephora.com. Prices for Volturi’s 21 stockkeeping units run from $9 to $19, and prices for Luna’s 35 sku’s are $18 to $34." They have palettes for some of the main female characters. It'll be split up into two different lines, like volturi and luna. ^That's the Victoria palette Bella palette Alice Roaslie body shimmer mascara Honestly, I don't think they look too bad I'm really interested in the palettes. Volturi line looks super cheap and I'm totally uninterested. | |

| I'm loving the Alice palette too; all the others mostly neutrals. And everything's not so expensive which is a plus. |

| me neither i think it looks a bit hooker-ish or something? maybe its just that crazy powder blue and bright pink together. I'm not really one for neutrals but I'm really liking the look of the Rosalie Pallette. The packaging reminds me of those Smashbox Eyeliner Pallettes, i hope its the same soft texture | |

| This makes me cry.
True Blood (which rocks, BTW) gets a carbonated beverage, and Twilight gets it's own line of makeup. Maybe they should also market the crappy white pancake makeup and "pixie powder" used on vamps. *snicker*
Sorry...but I'm SO not a Twilight fan....and man, they're marketing their ASSES off! Considering it's mainly a book espousing traditional Mormon values, I'm surprised at it's wild popularity.

| Sorry, but how does it expose Mormon values? have you read the books at all, or are you just saying that because of it's popularity and craze? I really don't care if you hate it, and I agree they're pushing the marketing scene so hard. And for True Blood it makes more sense for them to release the drink (that plays a part in the show, mind you) than creating a makeup line inspired by the characters and Twilight can get away with it, because they have the Hottopicxcore fanbase and younger viewers and blahblah idk it just fits Twilight more to me.
lol @ a Lafayette palette though

| have you read this jamie?
http://stoney321.livejournal.com/317176.html#cutid1
i read it a while back because i couldn't understand the whole mormon thing. (i'm not religious at all, so these things tend to bypass me), but anyways it's quite a funny read. i think its trying to show how totally religious stephenie meyer is but really it just made me laugh at how accurate the whole edward is a psycho stalker thing. when i first read the books i was like *swoon* edward is perfect but now that i've grown up a bit i can see the weirdness of it all! saying that, i still love a bit of twilight!

lol @ a Lafayette palette though I've read portions of it, but could barely get through it. Now, the books that True Blood are based on are HORRIBLE, but still better than Twilight. It ESPOUSES (ie. talks about in a good light) Mormon values (extremely strict, traditional Mormon values). And glittering Vampires? Really?????? *sigh* I could TOTALLY see a True Blood makeup line. LaFayette...Sookie....Tara....Jessica....Maryann....Arlene...Pam...Sophie-Ann---they all have distinct makeup "Looks". And while it doesn't have a HUGE teen fanbase (though still quite a solid one), it has an enormous adult fanbase (if Comicons and Dragoncons all around the world this year indicate anything)--adults who would pay to have the exact colour lipstick Sophie-Ann wears, or to have Maryann's earthy but business like look (when she was first introduced to the show), or Sookie's wide eyed tanned look, or Jessica's peaches-and-cream skin and LOOOONG lashes.

| I think a lot of people, having read the books or not are well aware of the Mormon tones in them and by Shauna saying that, it's not a bad thing. You came of as a bit defensive there Jayme.
I knew a little of the Mormon stuff but I'm not totally down with it but I have known some Mormons in the past so I had some ideas.
And as comedic and the stoney thing is, it's true! Things might have changed now but the stuff she talks about still comes from the religion.
Whether Myer intended it or not, it is in there. Maybe she was influenced by her religion or maybe it happened accidentally or maybe she did it on purpose, it's in there and the links cant be denied.

| idk I wasn't coming off defensive, I was really just asking how it pertained to the mormon religion just because the author is... | |

| I didn't know about the whole Mormon thing either. Seems a bit of a thin comparison to me tbh. I'm reading the lj thing that Ava posted. That was hilerious. I like Twilight but I'm quite aware of how lame it is. Pfft who cares. Never stopped me liking pokemon. | |
