| Ok...my face has plenty of issues, but the one that bothers me the most is that my skin is so SHINY. Its not oil, at least I dont think it could be, because the shine is the worst right when i get out of the shower.
Does someone know why my skin is like this or how I can make it better?

| its oil, honey - that stuff that causes pimples. steam from the shower opens up your pores, which lets alllll that oil out.
my face can be like that too - all you have to do is get a decent face wash, moisturizer, an exfoliation to use 3 or 4 times during the week, and carry some blotting sheets with you so you can pick up any oil on your face during the day.
clean and clear has this oxygenating foaming wash that could really help, and the oxygenating moisturizer could work too [it helped with shine in my face]. you HAVE to moisturize after washing your face, otherwise your skin will produce more oil to make up for all the washing you did, and your skin will be worse!
I said foaming because its more gentle on skin, but they have the oxygenating cream cleanser that you could try, which may have a better result. clean and clear also has blotting sheets that I adore to no end.
and to exfoliate, try st. ives apricot scrub, for oily skin. it'll keep dead skin away, which keeps oil trapped in your pores. a warming mask couldnt be so bad, either.
the biore site even recommends washing your face in the shower when your pores are open, which could help you a lot. that could be the time for a light foaming cleanser.
oh, and make sure you keep a routine! otherwise, your skin could go back to stage one.
hope that helped! | |

I disagree. I used to do the full routine - cleanse, tone, moisturise, twice a day - and then my dermatologist took me off all that and only got me to cleanse twice a day, saying that the moisturiser is just making it worse and that at my age I don't need to moisturise. If you have the perfect, gentle but effective cleanser, then you may not need to moisturise. So ya |

| Yeaaaah. I guess it just depends on the person hey? And the cleanser. My skin used to get really dry... but I found my cleanser was damaging my skin and making it dryer and making my pimples worse so she put me on a gentler and better cleanser.
=D
But Mandy, if nothing works, then I think maybe you should go and see a skin specialist so they can sort it all out! |

| ahah, if thats the case, then I dunno what could be goin on, unless the medication has actually stopped working for you. either way, keep using that cetaphil, invest in a good moisturizer, and come oil blotting sheets, and you should be fine! :]] | |

| Lol wow this is an odd situation then. I'd try what Sarah suggested, and if that doesn't work then maybe you should visit a professional. |

| didnt someone tell you that the reason your face is shiny isnt oil, its because you have literally exfoliated the top layer of your skin off? i think i remember you telling me that... maybe i am making that up |

But there are like 6 other layers right? So.... would it really make your skin all shiny? I hope I didn't sound like a loony saying that... |

| Haha NO HIDING MISSY!
I don't know who told you this exfoliation of top layer of skin thing, but if it was a doctor maybe you should go and get a second opinion, and mention what the other person told you. |

| My dermatologist hasnt really been able to give me an answer either, but she doesnt think it has to do with damage to the top layer of my skin. | |

| if thats the case, just keep trying to take care of your skin.
hell, Ive been reduced to using dove soap mixed with baking soda, and alcohol for astringent, and lotion as moisturizer, cos I ran out of my norm products and Im dirt broke til June!
just keep washing once or twice a day, and you'll be free of caves and stalagmite! ^.^
