I don't understand the point of bentos. Are they just tiny little lunch boxes? What's the good of that, if you can't fit all your food in it? I do love chopsticks though, I'm mad skilled.

its more a Jap thing! that's generally what they use for their lunches. I like the idea of it because I can have smaller portions if I get a smaller box [ideal since I have to lose weight], and if I want something bigger, then I can do that too. the sizes of them vary for what you need!

chopsticks dont love me though - maybe cos my fingers are the size of them.

I have really small hands, people tease me about it. I guess they're finally good for something.

I think the bento would be ok if you packed it in a bigger box. I can't imagine you could get a balenced meal from one of them.

thats basically all it is, but smaller! but for school lunches and things of the like, theyre smaller to be compact; because of books and all the stuff you've to carry around. :]

^ When I was in Japan, the reason the kids had small lunchboxes was because they got actual lunch provided. This was at a Jr. High, there it was just to carry around stuff for morning and afternoon break.

As tiny as most Japanese are, they eat a LOT. Either way, though, those wee bento are cute as hell.

The little ones are kid sized ones, and you can actually fit a lot in it if you bring actual bento style food. But most of the time I'm in a hurry and try and shove something ridiculous like a whole sandwich in it.
