| My friend jess has been asked to her boyfriends year 12 Formal (at a different school) And he's not the most popular of boys there, so she wants to look totally and completely perfect and outdo all the other girls there, for her boy.
She has her heart set on this dress but doesn't know how much it costs and can't get it because its overseas. We're in australia. If you guys could help i'd love you forever. even though i already do.

| The website is based in Florida...so that dress is $300 US which at the current exchange rate is about $365.50 aussie dollars. And then you have shipping. Hmm...thats only slightly more expensive than I paid for my prom dress.
And this shouldn't be in glam, should be in fashion me thinks...

| you need to find somewhere based in aus then...obviously.
you will know aussie based websites...or ebay. and everywhere has bridal shops with dresses or places with formal dresses. or even not...some shops have pretty summar dresses that could look good for prom.
or she could find a dress that looks stunning, but would be worth shipping over because she'd wear it again or be able to wear it out for less formal occasions.
http://www.daddyos.com/retro/retroldy.html
something like a rockabilly style dress would be worth it as she could look stunning and still wear it afterwards.

| mine is the 15th of june..we like to have ours once all the exams are out the way so's we don't feel as guilty getting so pished.. lol..most girls over here spend about £100 on their prom outfit i think..my corset was £130 but i'd been wanting that for ages, the material for my skirt cost £8 and ive not bought shoes and accessories yet.. but we only get one..i mean, do you not get a few? we have school dances and everything but we only have one actual prom so its a big deal..apart from grad ball if you go to uni.. | |

| mine is a month todaaaaaaaaaaaaay! its a week before our big leavers ceremony.
so excited.
this is gonna sound so spoilt...but i have a dress at £100, jewellery (proper silver, but its like a leaving school pressie) at £80, £25 for shoes, £50 for hair extensions (not just for ball...cos im now in love with them), £1.50 for hair bows and I still have to buy a bra that wont show and get my hair and makeup done.
eep!
hmmm and i kind of have a back up dress which was a little bit expensive too. *hides*

| yup...this will make me sound more spoilt but i was in the changing rooms and kept trying on one which is like a proper traditional dress and then the other which is more of a cocktail dress and I couldnt decide and got all stressed because I was in Sheffield and didnt know if we could get them up here and I only had like...that day...so I got stressed and ended up in tears and my mumma bought me them both
I will wear the other one though because it is all partyish and funky. And I did offer to sell/loan it to my friend if she doesnt find one she likes...which she hasnt so far.

| *ditty* I made my prom dress.. The fabrics were on sale, I got the trims at a discount because I finished off the reels of them, and my gloves and jewelry I got on Ebay and my boots I already had. I think I spent probably around $30 for all of it. | |

| I want to make mine but I have no clue where to get decent dress patterns. Plus I can't understand patterns. I found Burda magazine in WHSmiths, flipped it open and was like woAH. I think it's mainly cus they overlap loads of parts though.. | |

| Because I wasted money on a tux.
If I hadn't gone to real prom I probably would've showed up in board shorts and flip flops.

| oh I cant wait to see Sam in his kilt! Tux's are so yicky! hes wearing the typical Prince Charlie style getup, with this lovely grey tartan, which not only doesnt clash with the ginger hair, but matches his mummas maiden name, as it should. And then his tie/cravate thing (not a tie but ye know) is this red which nearly perfectly matches my dress! woooooo im so excited! And we're having it at the Balmoral. wooooo I would have made my dress...but lets face it I barely made that bag I'm gonna try make some stuff soon when I get money. | |
