I noticed a few posts in the makeup topic with nails so I thought a wee post just for nails would be in order!

has anyone done/attempted water marbling?
i just tried it and maybe it was the polishes but it did NOT work and it was a big old mess

I haven`t tried the water marbling thing, but it looks really tricky!

Water marbling is easy peasy once you get it down.
First, get a paper cup and fill it with water.
-also have a toothpick handy (to make your pattern)
-put tape around your finger nail (this makes clean up easy, so you don't have nail polish all over your finger)
-Paint your fingers a base color.(any color really.)
Also, some polishes are testy about being in the water, so you'll notice that when you drip it in to the water. It happened with slightly sheerer shades for me.

Okay, so pick your color combo, I like to use at least three colors.
Do one drip, and then drip the other polish on-top of that one, and then the next one on top of that, and repeat, two more times.
Stick the toothpick into the middle and drag it out, and then repeat, and then yeah really you can make your design anyway, this is just what I do. You can do more drags and stuff.

yeah i think i got the method right but my polish was a bit...
it went really gloopy and plasticy in the water. like i tried to drag and shape it but it just stuck to the toothpick

i attempted water marbling today!! it was suuuper easy once i got the hang of it. they came out alright for a first try, i'd say!

NYC 134A French White (base)
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Speedy Sunburst (dark pink)
Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Coral Fever (light pink/coral)
L.A. Colors Color Craze in Shock (yellow)

Has anyone tried the newsprint nails? I had a little go last night but it didn't work at all. I don't know if it was cause the newspaper I used was old, or if vodka just wasnt strong enough.

I properly do like them though, I'll have to get my hands on some rubbing alcohol/surgical spirit.
