| It's that time of year again!! What is everyone going to be?! As for myself, I'm planning on being the cheshire cat for halloween. I'm going to get a purple leotard, wear my pink tights, probably wear some sort of black boots, pink ears, and a pink and purple striped tail. I was playing around with my makeup today and this is what I came up with: - Spoiler:
any suggestions?? | |

| I wanted to be shrimp cocktail, but I don't have the time or resources to construct such an absurd costume. My friend and I were talking about being mall goths, cause it would be really funny and easy. I love everyone elses ideas... Gina you should exaggerate your eyes some more.. More cat like and such... To bad you dont have bright yellow contacts. | |

| Gina try to use a more vibrant purple, it looks sort of soft and the cheshire cat is like soo flashy! I have nooo idea, I'm doing 2 costumes though, one for school (where I won't look completely absurd in the subway) which will be.. DARIA I got this green blazer at a garage sale for $4!! all that's left is the orange shirt, black skirt and combat boots. Now I need a Jane. for Rocky Horror I will probably dress as a sexy zombie, but it will be hard to beat last year's. Whatever, it's fun as hell | |

| I know! The last two are so ridiculously out of my budget, I don't even know why anyone would shell out $200 (including shoes and accessories etc) on costume you're going to wear once. =( maybe twice. | |

| they are pretty nice, for what they are
i always feel real snooty around halloween with the pre-packaged costumes, because, yeah they look great in the pictures and on the packaging, but they are really poorly (and cheaply) made for something that you spend so much on.... when you can just do it yourself, often times for less and in better quality
and they always win the damn contests.....
it really bugs me cause its like 'Hey you spent hours of your time constructing this really cool(insert something here) costume...but we are gonna give the prize to the mass produced (insert sexy something here) girl....BOOBS!'
rachel and i went into a few halloween stores yesterday looking for green fish nets for her costume and she was all 'I think we are in the kids section' and then i was all 'I dont know, i cant tell the difference any more!'.....its true!!! pretty much all little girl halloween costumes these days are just somewhat tamer version of grown up ladies costumes....
but i do have to say i am impressed with the accuracy of the newest alice and wonderland reproduction costume....it looks pretty damn close
sorry bout that rant, not trying to knock anyones choices or ideas, but its one of those things i deal with being in the industry i think....

| oh dude no, i totally understand, and agree 100% but I can't sew, and I have no time or energy to even want to. thus the poorly made expensive packaged costume will be my choice, but I'm going to go check around Goodwill/thrift stores to find costumes first before I got all the way out to buy that. | |

| i agree 100% too, kate. i finally caved last year because i really wanted and needed a dorothy costume and didn't have the time to make one, but as a child my mom and i ALWAYS made my costumes. it was the first time i had ever bought one... and it was 50 freakin' dollars! for a piece of shit that barely fit me and was made of the worst, most uncomfortable fabric in the whole wide world. i'm all about homemade and home... assembled costumes. they're so much more authentic and great.
...but those mad hatter and queen of hearts ones sure are tempting... meh.

| Ben and I are doing a couples costume all "perils of Pauline" or whatever. He's getting a hat, cape, monocle and cane. I'm wearing a black pin-up dress, gloves and heels. Curling my hair, putting a flower in it. Vintage-y makeup... then making fake train tracks and tying them to myself. WEEOO. | |
