| So, at the ren faire this summer, I fell into fits of adoration for the Fantastikals.. and their makeup. - Spoiler:
I'm figuring on making a dress like this one in wine-red crushed velvet, and a black underskirt, and I shall be a fae for Halloween. http://www.thedarkangel.co.uk/catalogue3.php?p=117 What kind of makeup would you girls suggest? Would something like the Fantastikals overwhelm the dress? I can't imagine it would be easy to do, they were blended so perfectly it almost HAD to be airbrush makeup. If not makeup like theirs, what would look good? I'm figuring it'll be a sort of fire fae costume.. maybe employing my angel wings, I don't know. Thanks for your help!

| I think it would look fine together if you dont mind all the work its going to take then go for it! i don't know which products to suggest but I went to the costume store by my house and bought this white face paint stick by Mehron that works amazingly well they have a cake and a liquid version also, in all kinds of colors
here's the site www.mehron.com
this is what I bought http://www.mehron.com/product_p/400.htm
I haven't tried it on my whole face yet but on my arm its very opaque and smooth and blendable and aweesssommmmeee (PUFF, TRY TO GET SOME OF THIS FOR YOUR GEISHA MAKEUP)
just have a look around the site, they have some really cool stuff

| Mmm, Mehron. I got to play with some of their products the other day at the opera, they are GOOD but even more expensive than Kryolan here. Still! They are really good and stay on quite well if you powder it. Another good way to get that effect would be theatrical greases if you can get quite a light one, or you can thin the normal stuff down with isopropyl alcohol. It will give you the same effect as the airbrushing they've done there (it does look like airbrush, for sure), but you have to powder it very heavily. Once it's on it will stain you though For a few days at least, especially red! | |

| isopropyl is the same as rubbing alcohol right? and the greases, like the grease paint in tubes or cakes? or both? XD I'd love to know how to go about doing this too while liz is at it! haha | |

| Either greases should work, but the ones in cake form seem to be better quality for some reason... I think it's just luck with me Technically it's not the same, apparently most rubbing alcohols don't have ISP in it, but you can get stuff called 'Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol'. It's best to go for the highest percentage you can get (99%), other forms of it can have impurities and just generally aren't as good. Just take whatever amount of grease you want out of the cake/tube, put it on a pallette or tile of some sort and spritz some alcohol on it. If you don't thin it it will be a complete jerk to work with, and when you thin it it blends better too. With grease it's suuuper important to powder in between layers 'cause otherwise it will get really mucky. Good if you want to blend it though! | |

| right cos I have two different kinds, on is rubbing alcohol and one is isopropyl rubbing and I was like whhhaaaaattt XD thanks so much Kendra U R00L
I have both kinds anyway lol I think the cakes work better because they're thicker, the color comes out a lot less sheer than with the tubed ones

| I think this is a more massive undertaking than I was thinking.. One of you want to come help me with this? I'll make you something pretty...
Maybe I'll just go with brighter eyeshadows than I usually use.. Pretty chaos still, but a little more contained?

| Contouring, hm? Intriguing idea. To sort of compliment the eye shadow or to contrast with it? | |

| Steph, you're better at regular makeup than I am, so your input is good too! I usually just dash on brown eyeshadow, throw a thin line of gray liner along my bottom lashes, and walk out the door. | |

| Hey Lisbeth...I think I've got you covered. I have something I thought of doing for the Northwood game instead of a geisha look [that is, if Beau went with me, though I doubt that]. I want it to be a surprise [you know...just in case], so I'll PM it to you to see what you think. | |

| Nah - for some reason, AIM does NOT like me right now. I couldn't even talk to a friend of mine that's moving to Georgia. Not very fun. Dad's about to hop on the comp, so I'll send you the link once he's done. :] | |
