| um...im trying to remember as i havent posted here in a while but i saw valkyrie a few weeks ago which i didnt expect to like but i actually did. i have this thing about tom cruise but i didnt mind him at all in this. it's true you forget that hitler doesn't actually die in it.
at the weekend, i wanted to see my bloody valentine 3d and graham wanted to see notorious, which i did too but MBV was ending this week. MBV was sold out when we got there so we went in to see Notorious which finished at half 11 and the next MBV was on at 11.35 so Graham was like "well let's do both!"
I didn't expect to like Notorious but it was amazing. I knew what happened but I absolutely cried my eyes out at the end. I sniffed at one point and Graham looked at me and smiled and then he looked back a minute later and laughed because I had tears running down my face. My Bloody Valentine was kind of funny. It was really weird being in 3D...I kept screwing up my eyes until I got used to it. It was really silly and I worked it out quite quickly but it was still kind of fun. And I look totally cool in the glasses.

| Saw Zack and Miri Make a Porno on Saturday night. It was pretty lulsworthy, if you have similar humour to a twelve year old boy. Like me. I thought it was great! Got to see the Wolverine trailer with it, for the first time on the big screen. That was also great. I squee'd a little.
Also; THREE DAYS TIL WATCHMEN HERE OMG

| I just watched the Watchmen. I am pretty much satisfied, the film met all of my expectations as a fan of the graphic novel. It didn't exceed any of them, however, which is a bit sad. Still, I'm gonna go see it a few more times, because it is still a really good movie. - Spoiler:
They did leave out some of my favourite parts, like where Rorschach sets that guy on fire and he's standing against the smoke, instead he just chopped that guy with an ax. I really liked the imagery of the original. Also, they did have the scene where R goes to jail and has to see the Psychiatrist and the shrink totally breaks down at how terrible and bleak the world is.
His and Dans characters were amazingly realised. They were by far the stand out actors and characters in this movie. The Comedian was done very well, he was just as brutal and horrible as in the original story. Silk Spectre II came across better than most of the reviews I read implied, Malin Akerman was fine in the role. She wasn't as great as the actors who played Dan and Rorschach, though. Dr Manhattan was good too, and his blue wang wasn't that distracting. They explained his origins pretty well.
The only character who really pissed me off was Veidt. The actor was cringe-worthy, he had very little screen presence (where in the original story he is a larger than life, philanthropic, show off-y kind of guy), and sounded like he was just reading lines the whole time. There was no emotion. Also, the guy had a really mangled Americany British Germany accent. That was my biggest gripe.
I'm glad they didn't do the squid. I though the film handled what they did well.
The film, for some reason, still left a slightly bad taste in my mouth. While it is more or less the comic realised on the big screen, it lacks the emotional core that movies need. The scene right at the end where Manhattan confronts Rorschach as he's leaving Antarctica was great, though, perfect. I think the scene where Laurie learns that The Comedian is her father could have been done better... but I don't know how. I'm just being picky.
Ultimately, I liked it, and I'll definitely go see it again. Probably in a few days. I think most people will be satisfied, but not awed. It looked pretty, but it didn't feel as epic as it should have. Maybe the Directors cut will clear up some of the problems I had with it. The opening credits were AMAZING, and probably one of my favourite parts of the movie.
And also, Tales of the Black Freighter was cut out completely in this version, but when the shitstorm happens in NY, you can see the kid and the news stand guy being obliterated. That was cool.
Should also mention; there are HEAPS of easter eggs in this movie that are cool if you're a fan of the GM. There are lots of posters and stuff everywhere that you'll notice, both from the comics and the little bits in between chapters. Very cool.
Okay, I think that's it.

I've seen it before, but I kept getting interrupted the first time.
Damn, is it a great film. Not really for the weak at heart though, what with all the child molestation and whatnot.

| I seen Watchmen as well. I must admit I found the blue dong quite distracting. - Spoiler:
When I first came out the cinema I was just kinda meh. I think I had too high expectations (even tho i never read the novel) and initally the film never met them. But then I was thinking about all the parts of the movie I liked....and it was pretty much the whole film! lol. I thought Rorshach was the best character aswell. He was a real kind of anti hero. I couldn't believe it when they took his mask off and reveiled him to be this ugly smelly ginger guy. That was one of the things I liked best about the film. That when they took their masks of they were just normal people, not like chiselled CK models. How disturbing was that part were the Comedian trys to rape the first Silk Spectre??
"I'm not locked in here with you, YOU'RE LOCKED IN HERE WITH ME"
Face in the fryer. Epic. Lol.
What the hell was that midget thinking?

| I loved the novel and want to read it again. My art teacher lent me his copy, and keeps all of his comics locked up in this huge cabinet in the art room, haha.
I dunno why everyone was so freaked/uncomfortable/etc about the glowing no-no parts...I guess I'm a weirdo...?

| I wasn't freaked out I was just...distracted as Kiki says. Lol. I mean how often do guys go full frontal in films? It's quite rare. And it's even more rare when that full frontal scene involves a blue glowing wang.
It's a good thing they made him wear pants for that bit were he's a giant in vietnam. That might have been a bit too terrifying.

| I really can't wait to see watchmen now, I think I'm prepared for the blue penis. I didn't even notice in the book (well maybe I did but I certainly did not giggle at it!) Looking forward to orange wednesday I am!
Also I strangely want to see Happiness now. I keep catching glimpses of it on TV but never seeing it all. First time I switched on at the scene with the tuna sandwich etc with no real idea what was going on, it was pretty WTF.

| I saw Knowing tonight with my friend Mason. It was a pretty good movie - I'd definitely recommend it. The end was a little... obscure. It was one of those movies that could've ended about 10 minutes earlier and it would've been great, but whatever. I got really into it. Go see it! | |
