Placed very loosely in the "enterainment" section...

I don't think you guys outside europe will see the eurovision...but you should go google for the british entry for this year...

Anyways! Gill and Gloomy and maybe like Laura and other europes!

What do think of eurovision? I love it purely for the cheesiness! We're having a eurovision party (eg ordering pizza and staying in cos my parents are out Razz)

hmmm I noticed they removed the "would you like something to suck for landing?" line when they performed on the lottery...shame...was the best part! Razz

there was a salted nuts line too Razz

I find some of it funny for the cheesiness but sometimes I just think WHY? WHY OH WHY did we have to vote for such a rubbish entry!?!?
last year I tuned in 2 minutes after the UK entry. And then I sat through the rest waiting for it to come on (i didnt know id missed it). Haha.
Are they the same people as the lets eat to the beat, a pizza hut a pizza hut.. people? cus they remind me of them.

lol..i dont even know when its on..i tend to make a habit of missing it though..although i do hear the entries on radio 1..ours is quite amusing..and your right..that was the best line..in the end though, its all politics who wins, it has nothing to do with the songs..

incidently..and going a bit off track..Kiki? If SNP get their way, and a referendem is held in 2010 about Scottish Independance, and its agreed that scotland should be independent (which is quite a leap of faith..) will we have our own entry in eurovision? and how do you think we'd do in comparison with the UK entry? i think the Scots are more liked than the UK as a whole..

No gloomy, they arent the fast food rockers! they came out years ago...i think they have a song on now thats what i call music 47 or something...which if i bought that cd, it was a good few years ago! It was when steps and stuff were out and they tried to jump on the bandwagon and failed.

and ppppssssssh. i dont do politics Razz i failed mod studs and left the course...but hmmm. Would Scotland have to apply to join the EU? Because I think we'd need to be classed as a seperate country by them before we could enter? Although I don't know how it works (so not politically minded), but if we did go independant, would we still be part of Great Britain? But yeh I think potentially we could have our own song...and we could do so much better by ourselves. Bring on the Proclaimers!

And it is totally policial...it's not even funny Razz I think it's just some countries tho...idk I mean I wouldn't go "oh we brits are friendly with THEM so I'll vote for them". I'd go based on the song...maybe it's different on the continent Razz

Is that the song contest thing? And Finland won last year? With that Lordi song? Aw, I wish American music didn't suck. Well compared to Euro music...

Yep those weird demon guys haha.
Hm well eurovision isnt exactly the best example of our excellent Euro music lol. Although I can't understand them unless they sing in English so they might be good without me knowing it Shocked

I understand it...or at least I think I did when I heard it. I listened again...and yeh it's actually pretty clear. Meh. The video was pretty cool for it and I actually think they're pretty damn awesome...not because their music was amazing but because they did summat out of the ordinary and didn't just send in some teenybopper or horribly plastic gay man with a cheesy popsong.

And it being in their own language makes it more fun to sing along too. It isn't exactly very fun for EUROvision if it's all in english. I personally think they should have to sing in their own language...or at least part of the song. They put subtitles up anyway...and its more how they sound.

It's camp and fun!

Yeah in my post I just meant that I dont think eurovision is the best example of how good european music is, but also that since some songs aren't in english they might be good without me knowing.

Those Finland Lordi people were cool! I did understand them haha.

i dont think you necessarily need the song to be in english to like it...i mean the lyrics could be bullshit or you could be dancing along to some pronazi anthem but you can still like it. i think thats whats fun about eurovision

im not entirely sure what half the japanese stuff i listen to sounds like but it's still good music.

I'm the kind of person who is all about the lyrics, I always have to know what the song is about and stuff like that (well most of the time). Makes it harder to find music I'm into though..
By the way, what japanese stuff do you listen to? One of my friends just likes the harajuku stuff in gwen stefanis old album but I dont actually know anything thats in japanese to recommend to her.

woooooo!

except i watched the end of the semi finals (like 42 countries enter so they do a semifinal to narrow it but not everyone votes like tonight) and ALL (nearly) of the countries are from eastern europe...like switzerland, belgium, norway, sweden etc aren't in it! How bad is that?!

gah. the eastern european countries are pretty much taking over :[
i'd like it better without them (omg that sounds kinda racist :/) because it's always EE (eastern euro) countries who give points to EEs...and the west is just left behind. And the eastern music is not even better than the western :[

oh and i think there has been a rule long ago that said every country must sing in their own language but it's been deleted
