New dresses

My gray dress, which I finished yesterday morning around 1:30-ish?




It's princess seams with a circle skirt, out of insanely stretchy fabric. I cut a hole for my waist that was about 4.5 inches diameter, and it fits a little loosely. Crazy, hm? It's my new sleep dress.

My blue infinity dress:




Kindly ignore my paleness and the rather awkward candid shot Katie took.. Mom was chiding me for the back being tied too low. Oh horror, you could see the top of my bra band. How horrific, right?

The blue one can actually be tied numerous ways.. the top is just two very long straps that I can wrap around and tie however I feel like.

Yes, I'm going to sleep in it.. at least while in St. Louis. It's kind of a weak jab at Nathan's heart, because if he shows up to see me, the only time will be at night, when everyone else is sleeping. Girls at work said to look hot if he might show, so that's why this one was born.

Meep? Um.. I dunno, really. Probably wouldn't charge you much, coz you're so nifty, and they're so easy to make.

LOL! That's SOOOO awesome. I've seen dresses similar to that, and they are EXPENSIVE. I think they call them "Goddess Dresses" or something like that.

It'll be a lot cheaper than anything stores would sell, coz, hey. I get a discount at work! You have to let me know what kind of black knit you want, just a regular jersey or something softer, more t-shirt like, and if you'd want the handkerchief hem or the circle skirt.. I've got to go get ready for my drive now, but we'll talk when I get back from hell, ok?

Thanks, girls! Plats, that's a huge compliment from you, I'm really quite pleased at it. Kiki, I'm sure now that I've done it once, I'll be making more similar dresses. Now that I know what I'm doing it'll be far easier to repeat it. Kayla, they are really, really comfortable. Like, live in them forever, comfortable.

And me! My sewing machine hasn't been out of the box since we moved here 7 months ago... must try harder!!!

and funds for fabric. ive been running up bows at the moment, should post some of those but i just buy...fat quarter things for those.

The threading bit bamboozles me, I'm so lame and the instructions are rubbish!!

It's a Singer... hmm can't remember the model! It's a little buried at the back of my cupboard but I'll dig it out tomorrow and take a look.

When I get the threading part sorted is it best to just play around or try and work from a basic pattern as practise?

I'd figure out your different stitches on some scrap fabric, and maybe hit the library for a basic 'how to' book. That should help you figure out tensions and what needles you need and all, and once you've got that figured out, go for patterns! They're right easy to put together, though those instructions don't always make sense.
