Anime convention costumes

Katie decided that since I'm going to Anime Central with her and mom, I have to go in costume. Personally, I have absolutely no problems with that, and I started looking for outfits I wouldn't mind wearing. I found a Final Fantasy costume that I liked, there was a bonus because it annoys the hell out of mom(too revealing, according to her, though I believe what she said was more along the lines of,'You really enjoy showing skin, don't you..'), but then Katie started watching a show called Princess Tutu, and found a fan comic for it.. and, needless to say, I've been roped into making the two dresses from the comic. It'll be great fun, really.. two ball gowns, what's the problem? Oh yeah. No patterns. Yay for me. We're actually going to be headed to JoAnn later today to get the fabric, so wish me luck, girls!

Any tips would be most welcome, though I think I already know how I'm going to make the gold dress for Katie. I have some ideas for both, but suggestions are almost always useful!

One year at Jafax, this girl dressed as her in that outfit, and her top fell down during her skit. ><

I'll be wearing the darker dress, Jamie, and Katie flat out refused to wear the real Tutu costume. I told her I'd wear.. what's her name, Rue? I said I'd wear that tutu if she wore the other, but she refused and insisted on the fan comic's.

D'you guys think view B of that skirt would work for one of the dresses? I'm figuring they'll be in separate parts, it should be easier that way..

hm, you know, I think B and A would work nicely. it'll save you a hell of a lot of time.

Mwaha, Katie's freaking out because her dress has to have more of a princess silhouette, so the skirt will be wider than mine. I laughed and told her that probably means she'll need a petticoat, and she groaned. Not my fault she chose the dresses, nor that she falls over if someone thinks about her too hard!

I completely forgot that I had also intended to make a Rinoa costume before Katie showed me the other dresses.. and since we'll be there all three days, why shouldn't I have three outfits? If I had the guts, I'd make this, but mom would probably murder me.

Hokay, so I've decided against dressing up as Rinoa, and will throw a bloomer brigade outfit together and carry Katie's violin around(and possibly learn a song on it, yay!). Voila!

With any luck, it should actually be done soon! And I've got my stockings ordered from Sock Dreams.. The bloomers will be done later today or tomorrow(which is Monday...I think. What day is it? Crap!), the corset should be fairly simple with the delightful little tutorial I found eons ago on Craftster, and the shirt will be really simple as well! I might have to toss a pair of fairy wings together for this as well, but we'll see. I wanna see your bloomers when you're done, and I hope you took your foot away from the pedal to type! That's a hospital trip waiting to happen.
