| im sorry if theres already a post like this
post any horror stories you've encountered when visitng a makeup store here!!
Anyway.
I went to Napoleon today to inspect their bronzer. And not only was the assistant pretty rude to me, she -didn't know what a kabuki was-
i was horrified and ran away to the benefit counter to be pampered with bronzer promptly.
*shudder*
man she was rude. rude rude rude
The benefit ladies were very nice and very polite. One of them was only 19! |

| I love the gay guy at the mac counter I usually go too! He's so sweet and he always has the most awesome hair, like last time he had an orange star shaved into hir hair. I've never really had a bad experience at any makeup counter/store, all the one's I've talked to have been super nice! | |

| once when i was in spacenk, i was buying a philosophy lipgloss. the store was totally empty apart from my friend and one other shopper who was checking out the chantecaille stand. we were just wondering about, browsing like normal before realising we were getting visually x-rayed by the sales assistants. this kinda pissed us of because we has as much right to shop there as anyone else.
so anyway, i found what i was looking for so went to the till. while i was there i asked when the philosophy christmas collections arrived (candy cane and all that) - i can't remember exactly what the girl said but it was something along the lines of 'x weeks so you'll have enough time to save your pocket money for it'
i was totally o_o and just grabbed the bag out of her hand and walked out.
skank, i hope she got her ass fired.

skank, i hope she got her ass fired. I HATE bitchy salespeople. Many years ago, I worked at a clothing store in a mall. I went into another store at the mall during midnight madness and found an adorable tank with camo-star on it. I didn't have time to try it on, so I just went to the cash, figuring if it didn't fit me (it was an xl, so it should), I could give it to my sister. Anyhow, the sales woman (an older 40ish woman, working in a teen/young woman store...gag) looks at it and says "Are you sure that will fit you? You can't return it, you know, and it looks far too small for you." I bought it anyways and left the store almost crying. My sister met up with me, and was IRATE when I told her. She stormed into the store, took all their "fancy" dresses (gross sequined dresses), tried them on in the dressing room, tearing them and leaving deoderant stains. Then she stormed out, tossing the dresses on the counter, and said "You may want to throw these out--they're all ripped and stained." Heeheehee...... Oh, revenge is fun.

| I had my makeup done last year for interviews at Waldenbooks and a makeup store(one of the ones with the mineral stuff), and the person that did my makeup was a drag queen. I told him what I needed the makeup for, professional-looking for interviews, and he proceeded to do my eyes pretty well, though a little too far out with the shadows for my taste, BLACK eyebrows, when my hair was my natural brown, tangerine blush, lip liner that matched my hair with a disgusting white gloss over it, the lips were drawn out far beyond my natural lip shape and made to look horrible, and enough of a dark bronzer to make me look like a clown working in coal mines.
I never went back to that Mac location, just to the counter at the department store downstairs. I had to spend twenty minutes before my first interview washing my face, and trying not to cry at how hideous he made me.

| Omg Lizzy, that would be awful. Before I went to my neighbours formal I got my makeup done at some beauty salon place using napoleon perdis but the girl was clueless....I specifically told her i didn't want my e/s to be high, and it was practically touching my eyebrows. Also, she didn't bother with concealer and just caked my face with this gross, orange foundation. And my mascara was spiky as hell.
And on the bitchy Saleswomen/men....I HATE them. It makes me scared to look at their stuff. I find this especially with the MAC girls in the city and Chadstone, our largest shopping centre. They look at me like 'omg why is she here she can't wear our makeup!'. It makes me just want to run away fast.

| Euuugh, the Napoleon girls are always so trashy, and their foundation is never right. Blegh. The ones in Christchurch (I think there are like... six counters in this city alone) never wear any eyeshadow except like dazzling white highlight that looks terrible under neon department store lights with waaay too freakin' much liquid liner.
Jeebus.
The MAC, Bobbi Brown and Clinique people always seem to be looking down on me >.< There is one nice kinda chubby English girl who works at MAC who is really nice, though. The drag queen there is always a total bastard, like 'so do you actually know what you're looking for or are you just spending your time here?'
You're not gonna get my money unless you leave me alone, you bastard.
Oddly enough, the Revlon ladies are nice and chatty and not terribly fake. Loves them.
I can't believe someone said that to you, Shauna. What a fucking cow. Your sister is awesome. That's what they get for being jerks... I would never have the guts to do that.

| they look down on me in dillards hardcore. that one gay guy [yes damn it, Im saying it] was super nice to me - he thought I worked there because I was all dressed up! I felt uber special. He treated me like an adult and not a child and was genuinely interested in what I had to say. I'd give him my money any day.
and Revlon has counters? didn't know that it was considered high end over on the other side. its every day stuff here!

| In the big department stores there are counters, like at Ballantynes which is the only outlet of MAC and Bobbi Brown here. It's weird, eh? Revlon here is more expensive than MAC there. Hahaha. It's preeeetty expensive. L'Oreal is about the same. The compacts that have 4-5 shadows are about $35. Foundations run about $30-$40 and mascaras $20+. But New Zealand is the most ridiculously expensive place on earth. | |

| goddamn, here I am thinking $12 was pricey for revlon, although it is a great brand. I still love their compacts. but goddamn. that's a bit much! | |

| Yeah, that's for sure. They had a 30% off thing for Boxing Day, and their pink/blue compact looked soooo pretty, but I couldn't. | |

| Holy crap I would not pay that much for L'oreal, hell I don't even like most of their products enough for our drugstore prices. | |

| yeah over here l'oreal products are about £6.99 on average, revlon are about £10.99-£12.95 ish, my school are having a trip to washington and new york in the easter holidays and i'm so sad that i can't go because i could get so much more for my money over there I don't think I have any makeup horror stories... I rarely go to big department stores. The last time I went was in the summer to selfridges and I felt so uncomfortable as soon as i entered it, I was at the MAC counter and there was no one there to help or talk to me they just ignored me completely and I had my friend trying to hurry me up even though she knew i wanted MAC more than anything, I ended up being dragged away my a moaning friend with nothing |

| My friends and I once walked into this chain store that stocks drugstore brands and cheap-ish Asian brands and the salesladies there glared at us and tailed us around the store like we were going to steal something.
Apparently it happens a lot, according to my friends. But it's just that one outlet though. Which is good. |
