| So, I have this beautiful woven fabric that's black and blues and purples and maybe a little pink, and I decided last year that it would be fantastic as a winter coat. Recently work had fleece on sale, so I figured I'd get a yard or so to line the bodice of my coat with, since the satin lining is always freezing if you don't live in the coat. I wanted something that would be fitted to the waist, then flare out a bit, since there's a lot of this fabric, and where there wasn't fleece lining, I'd have some other sort(I have three massive plastic storage bins of fabric, I'm sure I'll find something!) of fabric and at the hem and cuffs and around the neckline, there'd be something soft and fuzzy. Tonight I started to sketch out a basic idea for the blasted thing, and hopefully I'll manage to whip it out relatively quickly. I'm not really sure why, I just really love the idea of that 'bustle' and the bow.. sort of a Victorian feel, I guess. Who cares, right? It makes me happy. It'll have princess seams, since that's such a flattering cut, and it'll be really easy to make the lower half flare. I figure it'll be about mid-calf length, but we'll see! Comments? Critiques? Better ideas for some aspect? I'm all ears! | |

| I think it's an awesome idea!
And a practical one too since the weather here is murder. >_<
How do you plan you make the bustle keep its shape? |

| I'll basically hem it, and gather it evenly and let it sit how it will. The fabric is slightly stiff, but I want to be able to sit and drive in this thing, so I figured I'd just leave it mostly as-is for the bustle. | |

| Lil, I'll be hand-drafting it, but I'll be sure to let you know if I use anything for a reference! And Shauna, is this really the style you were looking for? How wild! I keep joking with people around home that I'm psychic, but getting your style of jacket drawn out for myself? That's just..wow. | |

Hahaha....yep, you're a fashion psychic. I wanted it based off of a coat Jennifer Love Hewitt wore in Ghost Whisperer, but it was pretty much like the top bustle thing that was a bit longer....and I thought it would be nice if it had a straighter piece under it (like yours) and have a shorter bustle-y piece over the straight piece. Yeah....if that made sense....LOL! | |

| I think I understood it, Shauna, you're good. No worries. Thanks, Kiki, I was just doodling and went, 'man, it's cold out' and started drawing a coat. | |

| That's pretty kickass, I hope you show pix when it's done. Lining jackets is prolly one of my least favorite things to so, it's a pain in the butt. it sounds like you know what you are doing though. |
