| Oh yes.. you can make leather with fishes I got those at Mar del Plata, an east coast city here.. they have best fishes to eat (well, that's what everyone says.. i don't like fish) and to make this things of what we call "talabarterĂa".. manual labour with leather of different animals, silver, gold, ropes, wood..and many other things.. Very common in my country
The wallet is salmon leather fish, and i can't remember what's the fish of my ID thing
And the watch is fake leather fish.. it has fake scales on it
Oh! I remember now... 2 years ago i assisted to some courses about events planners and blah, and one of the lecturers told that he had organized a fashin show where the shoes designer had used leather fish.. so they had to prepared a sp runway with ice on it in order to don't let the fish get ruined and avoid the smell... it was too many fish all together.
It's not that bad if you have one or two pieces.. but you have to let it take some fresh air before useing it

| I don't very much appreciate this talk of how it's cool to kill a little fishie to make a frikkin wallet.
I'm sorry if this is offending to anyone, but to be fair all of that was kinda offending to me, so..

| Yeah. but you also don't need to vocalize how upset you are. She didn't know your views, and nobody else did. | |

| Steph, NOONE was rubbing in your face about it being fish leather. For me, I didn't know that fish could be used for leather and find that interesting.
Flor has a very different culture from what we have and you have to respect that as well. She did point out that it was part of her culture.
You may not "appreciate" the talk of using fish leather, however this is a FORUM and I allow free speech. OK, you're against fur and whatnot, but that doesn't mean that it's not going to be discussed on this forum just because a few members don't like it. I'm sorry but that's true.

| Would you ban anything if a lot of members didn't like the topic, or the meaning behind it Kiki? |

| Keeks hasn't banned any topic/subject from being mentioned, or anything of the sort. As she's said, she allows free speech, and doesn't control what people talk about. We've never banned a topic from being spoken of here - just people if they're rude/inactive/blah blah blah. | |

| I don't agree that ANYTHING should be banned. Full stop. I'm not going to prevent people from talking about it. If someone posted a topic say...I don't know what on....but if a LOT of the members opposed to it, then I would HOPE that those members could voice their opinion in a mature manner, and not be abusive or immature about it.
I won't ban anything on this forum. I think that's pretty ridiculous. Partially for the fact that it's freedom of speech and it's unfair. And partially because I expect everyone on here to be mature and handle themselves appropriately: eg, not be abusive in putting their opinions across, being fair etc etc.

| Flor, that's really quite interesting! I didn't know fish could be made into anything but food or scary singing wall ornaments. I thought these were so cool, I had to show my mom, and she just goes, 'You don't have a problem with this?' and naturally, I'd be miffed if I found out that the skin was all they were using, but how can I know otherwise, so I'll sit here and think that the entire fish was used, and be happy and jealous coz you've got a really awesome wallet!
Kiki, hear hear! | |

| They're scary! They move around and sing.. Fish shouldn't sing 'Don't Worry Be Happy!' My aunt had one, and it terrified the living daylights out of me. | |

| Maori people used fish skin for lots of things too, it's better than chucking the skin and stuff you won't eat away, isn't it?
Meh... I'm not really a fan of the wallets, but those purple boots Flor? Looove them. Your watch is really cute too.

| I think the fish skin wallet is really cool. Do they eat the fish the leather is from? If they do, what a full-use, readily renewable resource! | |

| nini, it's perfectly ok for you to speak your mind and it's understandable that if you have issues with things like fur and leather that you might have been upset by Flor's post. I think people just got a bit... as you phrased it as though you thought Flor was posting her fish leather to wave under your nose and upset *YOU* with and that people were victimising you by asking about the wallets. Anyway...back to the topic at hand. | |
