| One of my friends gave me a pair of her flared jeans and asked me if i could please make them into skinnies for her.
It's a simple thing to do but I don't know how skinny to make them. I don't want them to be so narrow that she can't put her foot through.
I'd just try them on and mark accordingly.... but she's a size 1. (that lil skinny ninny!)
Anyone know how skinny I should make them? |

| i think you should pin them on her. my skinnies, i can obviously fit my feet through or they would be 100% pointless and they sit a little below that bumpy bone in your ankle. does she have a pair of skinnies already? maybe get the to put them on and have a look at where they sit and such and then try the other ones. also at the title; i was sooo about to go admin for this being in DIY | |

| I'm a size 1 and I just went a measured a pair of mine.
They were a little under 6 inches across when layed down flat so about 11 1/2 to 12 inches around at the bottom.

| skinny jeans are a bitch..
if you make them too skinny just whack a zipper in. that was apparently huge in the 80s...
i bought skinnies (the purple ones)) but i don't think they're skinny enough..
should have gone for an 8 or a 6. |

| Jesus christ people manage to be over 13 and a size 4?? You can't even get those here, that'd be like age 11-12 or something. Does she have any other skinnies/do you know anyone who is a size 1 also and has skinnies? Cus then you could lay em on top of each other and pin/chalk/whatever. | |

| no way? That's fucked! Though the sizes are all screwed anyway, they've all changed by like, 6inches since like, 15 years ago.
i mean I have size 8 clothes that are too big, and like size 14 clothes which just fit. it's all ridiculous!

| oh god i found a skirt i bought...when i was 14-15 and it's an h&m size 8 and i could juuust fasten it up but i couldn't breathe. altho ive tried on an 8 recently and it fits ok but yeh a 4 is just like...fuck off. i read that a size zero in the US is about a 4 here i think. but then i think thats just a general thing because i think we definately dont have size 2s here. | |

| Yehh, it is.
Thing is, with mum being a dress maker and like trying alot of things on me, i get measured alot, and while i know i need to tone up, I also know i'm not THAT big, but then I read that like, i dunno, a tonne of fat celebs are size sixes and it's like, I'm a size 10!

| Celebs classed as fat is a totally different ball game to ordinary people classed as fat. Size 6 is sooo not fat. Only one of my friends is a size 6 and she is underweight for her height. Even a size 12 isn't fat (I'd say 14 but I can't remember how big a 14 is) | |

| 14 is two inches bigger than a 12.
No, what I'm saying is that alot of sizes you hear about are total lies, i can't think of any good examples right now, but when I do I'll be right back here!

| I didn't say a 14 was fat, I said I cannot remember how big a 14 is. I didn't want to just state something without even knowing what it was.

| on topic: make sure the width of the ankle matches the upper part of the pants (how close does the rest of the pant fit to the leg? make sure the ankle looks like it matches- but not TOO tight. you'll probably have to fit your friend twice to make sure she's comfortable/it looks right)
off topic: UK sizes confuse me! you all are talking about 4's being tiny or equal to US 0. US0 isn't that small.. 00 is as small as it goes here and pretty much everyone i know wears a 00 with room to spare. UK SIZES ARE CONFUSING! |

| A US 0-00 is about a UK 4-6 (from my googling) and that is small. In my opinion. I mean, I was a size 6 when I was in primary school. When I was about 10, I wore a 4 (I remember because it was a gorgeous skirt my cousin bought me for my birthday) and by the time I was like 12-13, I was an 8/US6.
I could see someone wearing a really small size if they were short and built skinny but for me, anything smaller than a UK8 just seems a bit...bleh.
And this is waaaay off topic.
