| Okay, so basically my mum's going into chemotherapy in a couple of weeks, and because she wants shorter hair so the hairloss isn't as bad, but dosen't want to pay a hairdresser because it's going to fall out anyway, she's assigned me to cut it (oh dear).
So, I was thinking about just doing a pixie-ish boyish cut so that the grey is all that is left and none of her brown (she dyes it, obv).
But I would like some sort of help on HOW to cut it?!

Google gave me that. It's not exclusively about pixie cuts but the advice seems like it could be helpful. Hope it helps atleast a little bit. |

| My grandma just went through chemo. Look up some pictures and try to copy the style, I guess. Wow, I'm really no help.
Oh by the way, when your mom's hair grows back, it will be lovely. All the family members that got through chemo came back with the silkiest hair ever. Good luck!

| you can get a really cute layered effect by pulling all of her hair to the top of her head and cutting it off straight across if you still want to take more off after that, start at the bottom and work in about 1inch horizontal sections. Start in the middle of the section and pull the hair straight out from the scalp and cut off as much as you want. Part that section in half and pick up more hair and do the same. Do this same thing all the way up...it's pretty easy and should have a pretty cute outcome. If you have a beauty supply store anywhere near you go in and ask if they have student shears(or scissors, whatever you want to call them) these will be a alot better than regular scissors. |

| Thanks kara, that's really good =)
and that sounds really good, Tiinia. We ave some hairdressing scissors because mum always get's bored with her own hair, but that sounds really good, thanks.
Because mum's hair's curly (atm anyway...) it'll probably go a bit Halle Berry in Die Another Day. Only we're going to dye it purple for a laugh =)
And Kayla, I can imagine my mum's really hoping for that! She's got very dry, curly kind of afro hair, so she's hoping and praying it'll grow back straight!

| cool, we used to have some laying around until i used them to cut something and nicked them...but now i have my own and like flip out when people get near them haha when my grandpa went into chemo for breat cancer he had really curly bright carrot red/orange hair and when it grew back it was relatively straight and this awesome silvery-with hints of orange color, and he doesn't have to do anything to it, he gets out of the shower and it just falls into place... |

| ha ha yeah, that's like my mum's sewing scissors, I'll steal them to cut up a top or whatever and she'll go mad thinking i've used them on paper like 'OMG YOU'LL BLUNT THEM' ha ha ha.
And yeah, I mean, she might not even lose her hair, but it's always a high chance so... *shrug*

| man, hearing all these "awesome hair after chemo" stories seems a little surreal. my sister had brain cancer a few years ago, and when her hair grew back, it was almost grey and was wiry and dry. it doesn't grow quickly at all, and there's pretty much nothing she can do with it. BUT her situation is wayyyyyy different, because she had to recieve a lot of radiation straight to her head, and that probably had a lot to do with it. |
