PostSubject: Re: Beauty Tips & Secrets   Beauty Tips & Secrets EmptyTue Mar 27, 2007 6:32 pm

Hmmm. Only one I can think of offhand is that I love Rescue Remedy cream for fading scars, which is excellent for those pockmarks acne can leave.

Oh! And to get more vibrant color when you dye your hair, while you let it set put a shower cap on and heat your hair up with a blowdryer. Just be sure you use the shower cap, or it'll dry out the dye and your hair and make it icky.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

aseline is a cheap beauty binge! if you have a dry patch of skin, or you get wrinkles easily around your eyes, put some vaseline on that area before you go to sleep and it'll make a world of difference when you wake up.

FISH OIL CAPLETS taken twice a day are filled with OMEGA-3 fatty acids which work wonders for your skin and hair! TAKE EM! you'll be greatful you did!!!! =D
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Put vitamine E in capsules (thow of them) on your face once a week, for 40-45 minutes... then, take it off with a lot of water and then wash your face with your favorite face-cleaner...

The E vitamine should help you to clean your skin... *^*
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To get rid of those nasty cold sores, put a dab of aftershave on them every day. After 3-4 days its gone. FYI this is coming from someone who didn't feel like buting actual cold sore crap.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i have actually heard to use shaving cream on cold sores for the aloe vera. Or if you have an aloe vera plant, the day you feelthe cold sore coming on just rip off a piece of the plant and put some on the area every hour or two, and the coldsore never shows up! it's awesome!

Also for yucky razor bumps in your personal area, put some hydrocortizone cream on a day after you shave and they show up a lot less, or not at all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

to get the perfect eyeliner application, run a wet q-tip along any mistakes on your eyelid.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

lotion takes away ANY makeup.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

a good way to hold glitter to your eyelids is to use those wet to dry cream eyeshadows that dry lyk powder. It will NOT BUDGE! But you all probably knew that anyway. OH WELL! vaseline works too but it gets smudgy on me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I love using vaseline with black eyeshdaow to get that wet look.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm going to sing my praises to vaseline as beauty ESSENTIAL! Especially in the cold winters (It gets cold up here in Canada yo'!) it restores moisture like nothing else and it's great on your lips if they get deeply DEEPLY chapped, mine had freaking craters in them, I swear, then I use vaseline on them a few times daily for 3 days and they now are resistant to drying out!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

use a TIIIIINNNNYYYYYYYYYYY iddy biddy bit of gold eyeshadow (the non glittery kind *stares*) on my cheeks instead of blush (brush it on with whatever brush you have then just use your fingers to get rid of any lines and blend it in a bit more). I dont know if im the only person that kinda uses gold eyeshadow in this way and im not sure if it can be counted as a beauty tip or secret Embarassed but yeah. Also if you're after a small beauty mole or something on your face, just put a TINY dot wherever you want it with brown texta. It washes off quite easily when you need to take it off and its pretty versatile ^^.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When you can't seem to get any more moisturiser out of your bottle, find a near empty container of boddy butter and leave it upside down in there for a while. mix them together and add sunscreen if you want Smile I also put some nice scented oil and some wash off (very subtle) fake tan in mine.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you like the pale look (or burn super easy like myself) wear sunscreen every day. mix it in to your moisturiser that you use for your body and apply that daily, get no burning and moisture in one!

Another mix-it tip, mix foundation into your moisturiser and you get a tinted moisturiser.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This probably isn't much of a secret, but vaseline is probably my favourite eye-makeup remover ever. It's so cheap, it moisturizes, and it takes off eyeliner/mascara/eyeshadow with awesome precision. If you just make a tiny mistake (line too far out or whatever), vaseline goes right where you want it, no where else.

Also, if you start to get some frizz in your hair when you're out and you don't happen to have hair product, use hand lotion. If you don't carry any, odds are, another girl will. Just rub it in your palms then either scrunch your hair with it or smooth it on. Works wonders!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To make your own colored mascara mix a small amount of high pigment shadow with some clear mascara. You can make all the colors you want and if it looks bad, you didn't waste a ton of money on something you'll never use again.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

when your lips get all peely and gross after being chapped, take a wet hard toothbrush and SCRUB SCRUB SCRUB at your lips. then put on vaseline or a really greasy lipbalm and take your shower. this will make your lips all smooth Very Happy (but they might hurt after your brush them, for a little bit) but then they dont flake
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

the brushing thing should be done with a soft baby toothbrush and you're supposed to put vaseline or lip balm on your lips BEFORE scrubbing and scrub it in. and then put it again afterwards. if you do it till it hurts it will try to make a new layer too fast and you'll be right in the same boat
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When I want to de-flakify my lips, I run a facecloth under some really warm water and hold it on my lips for a little bit [only like, 20 seconds or something. Keeping it for a certain amount of time isn't exactly crucial] and then I wring out most of the water so the towel is still damp, but not really wet, and I use that to scrub my lips. I have to do that a lot, since I'm bad about remembering to have chapstick all the time.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just read somewhere today... that... if you put visine on your pimples...the redness goes away : ] haha i always thought it only worked on your eyes.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2 things:

#1. Whoever it was who reccomended baking soda, you are my hero. It worked SO well on my skin! eek! Thanks!

#2. Visine reeeeeeeeeeeeally works too! yay!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

well, i have really bad under eye circles... so to help cover them up i put a dab of red or pink lipstick (just a little!!) to balance out the blue... then i put my foundation on... and its completly flawless!!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I received a great beauty tip from a specialist who told me not to wear any moisturizer with sunscreen, or to add sunscreen to your moisturizer. The reason you ask?? Moisturizer is to be spread onto your face in a circular motion to rub it in. Sunscreen, however, is to be spread in a downwards motion only. The oils in sunscreen will clog your pores, so when you are using moisturizer and rubbing it into your face, the sunscreen is also being rubbed INTO your pores too.

Soo....put your moisturizer on first (circular motion), wait 15 minutes, then apply your sunscreen in a downwards motion.

For a number of years, I had clogged pores and couldn't figure it out....they have since cleared up significantly since I stopped using moisturizer with sunscreen!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Preparation H!! It de-puffs the area around your eyes and tightens the skin there so no wrinkles or crepe-y look when you have been out partying. Yes, i use 'the butt cream' too and I know a few others that use it and i swear, it works!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

something i saw.. and tried today... dabbing a cotton swab in some ice cold milk, and letting it sit on your [[[closeddd]]] eyes for about a min, sorta helps the dark circles : ] helped mine.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have bad oily skin so I like to use scrubs.
Weeeellllll the best scrub I've used, I make myself.
Basically I take salt and lemon juice and mix together.
It works wonders.
I used it about 3 times a month.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

if you ever want to freshen up your pearly whites a little more, or you don't want to use more chemicals, or they just don't feel clean enough... wet your toothbrush and sprinkle on a little baking soda and brush away

and to remove soap buildup in your hair (i hate that!) rinse with a little apple cider vinegar. i think that's only for dark hair though, blondes are supposed to use lemon juice.

i've also heard potatos help counter act the dark circles under your eyes. any one tried it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've done this a good many times and it really worked but then I got grossed out by it and stopped.haha..Anyway,
If you have really oily skin,Before you go to bed, take a paper towel and soak it in pickle juice for 30 seconds and then wipe your face with it.Go to bed but Then in the morning, *Make sure you wash your face! haha.. It's gross but it helps control oil.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4 a really cheap and easy DIY face mask. Mix 1/4 cup of brown sugar and 3 tablespoons of milk. Mix together till it becomes a paste and put on face . Leave for 1 minute or till u feel it set on ur face it can take more than a minute. then wash off. It should leave ur skin feeling clean and fresh. It worked 4 me
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

for all the girls that wear A LOT OF heavy pigmented eyeshadow, glitter, prime and such, using BABY WIPES will remove it SO QUICKLY, then just wash whatever's left with soap and water.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rub vaseline over your eyelashes every night after removing makeup to stop them drying out and breaking
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Olay Daily cleansers, conditioning cleaning milk. for normal/dry skin;
is deff very good for fighting spots
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-men's razors work SO much better for me than women's razors. They take less effort. And when you shave, use shaving cream, it moisturizes your legs so much

-break a vitamin E capsule open and put the liquid on your nails and lips for shine and strength

-when washing your face, DON'T rub down, but in circles... somewhere awhile ago I read that it makes your skin sag faster or something

-splurge on some silk pillowcases; they help your hair stay less oily when you sleep, and reduce har breakage. Plus, it feels so luxurious!

-love your lipstick but want a more subtle version? Put it on, wait a few minutes, then wipe it off and put some clear gloss over the stain.

-if you have really visable veins (like me), wear sunscreen always! It helps

and most importantly:

-chocolate DOES NOT contribute to acne, so eat as much as you can!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeast gets rid of pimples.
If you take yeast and mix it with warm water...and make a paste.
& leave it on a pimple over night.
It shrinks and speeds up the healing process.
I read it in a magazine somewheres

2 egg whites & 4 medium strawberries - smash berries & egg whites with a fork, but leave the fruit pulpy. massage mixture onto your face, let it dry for about 5 minutes & then drape a warm washcloth over your face & wipe it off.
(eggwhites tighten skin, minimizes pores..while the berries work as an exfoliator.)

chapstick on eyebrows - sometimes they tend go retarded. & dab chapstick -helps them stay in place.

baking soda & a little bit of peroxide - leave in your mouth about 5 minutes everyday. (makes your teeth whiter in about 7 days.)

vaseline is a girl's best friend!

olive/sesame oil for hair - i leave it in a night prior to shampooing & conditioning the next morning -- wrap my hair with a silky scarf. (makes my hair softer & shinier)

to make you hair lighter using the sun:
BRUNETTES: mix 4 teaspoons apple cider vinegar, 1 teaspoon almond extract & 2 cups of water in a spray bottle. spray about 15 spritzes --roots to ends..
BLONDES: instead of apple cider vinegar use lemon juice.

for those whose hair turns green in from pool water: dissolve an aspirin in 2 tbsp of shampoo & use it to wash your hair. (next time: comb leave-in conditioner before getting in the pool.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

if you masage your nail beds for about 10 seconds every day, it makes them grow faster and stronger because the when you massage it the blood sirculates to it more and makes it healthier :]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

same with the roots of your hair-if you massage them your hair grows faster and shinier and stuff
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shinier Hair: Hair mask from strawberries and mayonnaise mashed up together. Apply it to hair, put hair in a shower cap and wrap it in a towel (one right from the drier if possible) wash out after about 15 minutes.

I know that this product is expensive but Clearasil Ultra the stuff that they say takes just three days really helps your skin, I use the face scrub and it works when I remember to use it. A week or two ago I got really sick and couldn't eat, my skin looked amazing. Apparently anorexia is good for your skin? joking.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sick of shaving? Try "sugaring" instead Wink Sugaring is a form of hair removal very similar to waxing.. same amount of pain, only its less irritating and clings only to your hair rather than your skin like how wax does.

Heres a simple way to make your own--
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup honey
Juice from a lemon

Put it in the microwave for a few minutes and then let it cool to a warmish room temp. type temperature. Take a shirt that you dont like made of 100% cotton (I just used an old hanes shirt) and cut it up into little strips. Apply the sugaring mix and have at it Razz
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These are not my personal tips, they are of course from the original Limecrime Forum Smile

To get rid of that stubborn pimple (this works GREAT on those "blind" pimples, too), dab with Windex window cleaner. They'll be gone in a few hours!

----------------------------

If you run out of shaving cream, use conditioner. Makes your legs super smooth!

-----------------------------

Another great use for conditioner: If you have the deep conditioner, rub some on your elbows while showering. Try to keep your elbows from getting wet for a couple minutes, then loofah (or use a scrubby thing), and rinse. Super soft elbows!

Speaking of Windex do NOT use that stuff to strip the color from your hair. You'll only damage and dry it out. Take your cheap behind to the store and get a proper color stripper. Wink

Noxzema razors!

yep, them same folks that made the acne medication!

if you dont want to use men's razors [which I hear are fab],
then noxzema is really good!

they have the moisturizing strip that REALLY DOES moisturize,
its not just somethin they threw on there to make you buy it.

and its small, so you can even use it on your naughty bits and shave against the naughty hair bits, too!

its the best razor Ive used, and thats sayin a lot for me. Very Happy

aw, I totally shoulda put this in product reviews, huh? haha.

i like to use conditioner when i shave "down there"

i get razorburn really, really easily, and it entirely prevents it from happening. also, seems like regular, unscented, stick deodorant works wonders to keep it from being itchy and weird. when I get razorburn anywhere i use it

I get razor burn there too, and the razor bumps as a result, so I always have to moisturize there - if not, the bumps swell, and thats not groovy to any extent. -.-

never thought of deoderant either, Im so tryin it!

I have to try the deoderant!

And yes, windex works on pimples. But I wouldn't use it on anything other than giant, mega pimples, since it's not really GOOD for your skin.

2 to 2.5 tablespoons a day of apple cider vinegar is supposed to be good for a lot of things. It is rumored to help with migraines and stomach issues and also promotes healthy skin and shiny hair. And, it's supposed to help with weight loss. I started drinking it last week, so I don't know if these rumors are true, but I will let you know.

If you have non-sensitive skin (mine's tough as nails) buy a Clorox Bleach Pen and put it on your pimples. The bleach in it is watered down enough that it won't kill your skin!

PostSubject: Re: Beauty Tips & Secrets   Beauty Tips & Secrets EmptyMon Jun 11, 2007 1:04 am

here's a trick Ive been using for the past two months [well, forever, but I've mastered it at this point]:

two - three pumps of liquid hand soap - no matter the brand,
right in your palm.

atop that, about two tablespoons of baking soda [I add a lil more than that...!],
and then, a few drops of water - NOT TOO MUCH!

blend it together...it should be a creamy paste...not too watery/soapy; not too crumbly [which will happen if you dont have enough soap or water].

then you basically use it as a scrub.

but when you wake up late and there's a huge fuckin zit on your nose and then another on your forehead and chin...[god],

leave it on as a mask for about five minutes...not too long, it starts to tingle and Im afraid my flesh will fall off.

after that, biore's toner, and Im done.

that pretty much keeps my face clear. :]

I know this is a bit soon for a lot of you to be thinking about, just keep it in the backs of your minds...

use some sort of body oil on your belly during pregnancy to avoid stretch marks... I used grapeseed oil but sesame, almond, light olive, whatever should work too. no kidding, I'm not quite 5'2" (157 cm or so) and I have twins, and no stretch marks on my belly. have a few from a long time ago from being overweight, it doesn't help those. but at least none on my belly Surprised)

Yeah I read that baby oil and stuff is good for avoiding stretch marks. And if you already have them palmers cocoa cream stuff fades them. And it's cheap. Or apparantly you can hide them by colouring them in with fake tan Very Happy

Does the oil work better than cocobutter? If so I might need to pass this on to my best friend since she's got a little muffin in the oven.

Oil is good for preventing them but won't fade them
Coco butter is just as good but not only will prevent them but will fade pre-existing ones
