PostSubject: NYC Shopping Tips   NYC Shopping Tips EmptyTue Jun 28, 2011 11:09 pm

Headed to NYC for a much needed shopping weekend with Alicia, Suganya and Brandon in about 2 and a half weeks!
Anyone know some great spots? cheap shopping? or not so much cheap but fucking rad-awesome-fierce?
Our hotel is in Jersey but it's not very far from Manhattan
*pokes Kayla* Wink

I found this http://www.brooklynflea.com/ which I am stoked for! but my other friends are not so much into thrifting haha
we love alt fashion, hot pink, metal studs, vinyl, GLAM! Alicia is dying to get to the Patricia Field store
but also dirty, grungy, thrifted, used..
we also have a boy on board!

I def recommend thrifting your ass off...also, if you can find one, go to UO and AA. I love UO (clearly) even though I can't fit into most of their tops/dresses ><

Oy, I wish I was more of a pro at this type of stuff.

St. Marks has Trash and Vaudeville, which I think you'll like very much. Plus excellent restaurants (I definitely recommend Saint Alps or Oh Taisho)

Beacon's Closet/Buffalo Exchange are the higher end of thrifting... so you might have to pay $20 for one item... maybe more. Salvation Army is the way to go if you want to be cheap. I recommend the one in Williamsburg but the 8th avenue one isn't bad either. Lots of sifting, but I've found some of my favorite clothes there.

DEFINITELY spend a good amount of time in Soho. There's a lot of designer stores which are fun to just peruse, but there is also TopShop (and TopMan fer yer manfriend) Uniqlo (excellent for basic stuff) and Allsaints. And while you're in Soho, go into Evolution! No clothes, but you'll enjoy it (taxidermied animals and all sorts of amazing things)

Avoid buying stuff further uptown. You'll get ripped off. Stick to Soho, the village, lower east side*** and Brooklyn and you'll be good.

Thanks so much! xxxx

We're also going to see Dan Rad in his Broadway show! Very Happy How To Succeed In Business Without Really. I AM SO EXCITED
Does anyone happen to know what kind of "dress code" there is for broadway shows? I was thinking a simple dress and heels, not fancier than that right? or is that even a bit much?

People show up in shorts and sneakers... But those people suck. Dress up as much as you want! Its NYC, so there will be a variety of people looking like shit and some that are dressed to the nines.
