I'm an idiot when it comes to nailpolish

For my sisters wedding on satuday I want to paint my nails red(matches my lipstick ). But I'm extremly untalented when it comes to painting my nails. I always paint over the sides of the nails(hope you know what I mean), it looks really ugly.
Do you girls have any tipps to prevent that?

Paint your nails at night. In the morning when you go to shower and wash your hair, the nail polish washes off your skin, but keeps it on your nails

this is how i paint mine - i usually try to stay about 1mm away from my cuticles and then theres no problem with the colour bleeding under the edges and going everywhere. also - q-tips to clean up any mistakes! they're a lifesaver

Yeah, I suggest q-tips as well. That's how my nails always look tidy.

i'd say to take your time and do several, thin coats. don't try to rush it by doing one thick coat - it never works!

Thank you girls! Those are some usefull tips! I always try to clean up the mess with q-tips but it's so messy that it doesn't work .

Try a nail varnish corrector pen, I don'k know how well they work, or if they're expensive/worth the money, but maybe its worth a go.

I start a little further down the nail than I actually want the polish to be, then push the brush up a bit so it's closer to the cuticle. That way I almost never get any of it on the skin.
I just watched the Temptalia video and that's sorta how I do it.

You're probably right, it definitely takes practice! I used to SUCK soooo bad at applying nail polish... now I can manage but it took a lot of practice lol

Yeah, I guess it does take practice I need a lot of practice at doing nail art with my left hand haha. Wish I was ambidextrous

I have a friend who paints my nails for the wedding now, haha. But I started practicing today, Yay!

hey, i also had this problem with painting my nails. then i decided that i will take my time to prevent accidents but that did not work because i always do my nails shortly before going out. so i am always in a hurry.
but then i found a ploy: before painting them cream your fingers around the nails so that the polish will remove very easy. well the more careful you are the better the result will be.
