| usually white girls can wear blue based anything. if you aren't used to a strong red lip, then a gloss is a good place to start. lip stains are great too, because you can build intensity and control how much you use.
Barry M has great lipsticks, at least according to Lollipop26 (http://lollipop26writes.blogspot.com/). Urban Decay has 4 different red lipsticks to try, and they also make a clear and red lipliner to help make application super precise.
do you need a tutorial on how to apply a stronger red lip? if you want, I can whip up a quick vid later on.

| well if you use a blue based it should help your teeth look whiter! if you're still uncomfortable with it, try using some whitening strips to help brighten your smile.
okie doke, I'll do a vid tomorrow since I wont be at school. sadly it will be on my webcam (I need to replace the battery for my camera) but you'll get the idea. and don't tell me that you can't tell if a lipstick is blue based! I was an art student for a short while and I can tell, so I know you can too!

| Just make sure you exfoliate your lips with toothbrush (assuming you don't have an actual lip exfoliator.. no one I know does ) and use heaps of lip balm before hand. Because a lot of red lipsticks are matte they are also drying as hell (especially with cheaper brands). Nothing worse than scody dead lip-skin red lips >.< Like Puffs said, blue based is best if you're worried about yellow teeth. If you're gonna be wearing a full on lipstick instead of a gloss, it's a good idea to use concealer around your lips as well, helps it pop. | |

| an easy lip exfoliator: just mix a little sugar in your lip balm and massage your lips. It works nicely and tastes good. I can't get the pic to works, but I have a few tips. Make sure you get a good lip liner, it really makes a difference. I usually line my lips and then color the entire lip and a base for my lipstick. I've been using Benefit's Flirt Alert lipstick, it's amazing! I was also going to say the concealer tip, but Kendra beat me to it. Oh, and I use a lip brush, it just gives me more control. Red can be unforgiving if it gets anywhere you don't want it to. |

| I really like Macs russian red which is blue based. Although thats a matte and mattes are tricky to start with. Maybe go with a creme or lustre one to start depending on how intense you want it to be. | |

| Like someone above mentioned, i'd totally recommend circling over your lips with an old toothbrush[can also be used prior to applying foundation!] to scrub away any dead skin, and use a lip moisturizer beforehand so you're working with a smooth surface, very important. I usually color my entire lip in with a pencil, i hate lining my lips because theyre bigger, but i go over the whole thing with my pencil, and then i will apply my lipstick over it. I also use a q tip to smooth out any imperfections and then apply some foundation to my lower lip for evenness, and it also helps it pop. The lip liner is a really good primer to a long lasting wear.
As for suggestions on what brand, I can't help much there. I totally recommend a lipstain because I love them, and MAC has some fantastic reds I hear. Benetint has a lot of mixed reviews so be sure to use a tester to see how you like it before purchasing it.
Also i've never heard of the sugar trick, I'll totally have to try dat! |

| Sooo let's play a game! It's called "Which red lip can Gina pull off better?" I'm considering doing a strong red lip and like, very classic eyes for my Boat Dance at the end of this month. Sorry that the pictures don't really do justice - the colors don't pop quite as well as they do in person, but yeah. Here are the two: fire engine red: - Spoiler:
and darker: - Spoiler:
Be honest! If it just looks bad on me in general, let me know.

| I can't decide! I like them both. I guess the brighter one is more striking though. And it definitely doesn't look bad | |

| I love both so much on you, Gina! I thought the darker one looked very elegant but the fire engine red brings out your eyes. You're totally good no matter which way you go, lucky lady |
