pierce your own nostril?

i understand its not a very painful piercing i have friends that have got it done, and ive done TONS of research and im gonna go to a body jewellery store and get a nose hook to put it in at first. im gonna use an IV needle, (my mom used to be a flabotomist) or a sewing needle, i think i might go with the sewing needle, i dont have much experience with hollow needles soooo yeah. im gonna try the sewing one i think.

what do yall think?

I think NOOOOOO!

Home piercing is generally a bad idea. And don't use a sewing needle. You need the hollow needle to remove the flesh in the hole so it can heal correctly. They're also sharper (like a scalpel), so less trauma to the skin.

I also think no. You're always better off going to a qualified professional. How come you wanna do it yourself anyway?

because my mom says yes but my dad says no, my mom wouldnt care and my dad would eventually get over it.

i know that i could do it and i know that i could handle aftercare and healing. ive pierced my ears multiple times, but had to let them heal up when i discovered i was allergic to nickel!

sorry, no you dont know that you could do it, unless you've been through training with a piercer and learned where all the nerves and bits to avoid are? aside from that, you wont be able to sterilise and stuff as well as a pro would.

im sorry but this annoys me...i dont get why anyone would think it's ok to pierce themselves. multiple things could go wrong or at the very least, you'd end up with a wonky piercing.

if your mum says yes and youd dad would get over it, where's your problem? get your mum to go with you and hey presto! clean, happy, safely done piercing.

yeh, what everyone else says..i know this sounds mean but im of the opinion if someone is immature enough to go behind their parents backs and pierce themselves instead of talking things through with them, then theyre not mature enough to have the piercing..

my dad is like yours..but when i was 15 and i wanted my belly button done i went off and did loads of research and printed it off and had discussions with my parents..i put their minds at rest and my mum took me to have it done..after they saw how well i looked after it, they just left me and my piercings alone, said i was mature enough to get what i wanted done. however im still not allowed facial piercings just cause my parents dont want to have to look at them..i'll be 18 in like a week, but i still wont go get any facial piercings cause i still live under their roof and they still pay for me..if you want it that badly you won't mind waiting for it..whats a few years out of your whole life?

oh and if your allergic to nickle, just make sure you get pierced with titanium from now on..

Strangely enough, I had an allergic reaction to titanium. Weird, eh?

But I agree with kiki and Gill...seriously, piercing yourself is a BAAAAAD idea! BAD BAD BAD!

I waited 'til I was 18 to get my cartiledge pierced, got my first tattoo at 21, and my ears finally pierced at 23. You won't DIE if you don't get to have a piercing. I don't know why people are always in a rush to get them done.

if your mother is allowing you to get it done - you get her to go with you. she doesnt have to see it happen or whatever, just go to provide her consent.
im sure you can wait until you're 16. it's probably less than a year. it wont kill you, as Shauna said.

I know, eh? Just my luck...I can only use sterling silver or 10 karat gold in my ears, otherwise I get a rash and pus. Ew!

I knew a guy who would pierce his own ears, eyebrows, nose and scrotum. NOT recommended...LOL! Lots of scar tissue to be had.

But yeah, I agree that these posts should be banned. It's just a bad, bad, bad idea! And maybe put up a sticky, closed thread talking about the dangers of self-piercing.

I've seen this sorta stuff go badly. I knew a girl about a year ago who did all her piecings, bar her tongue, herself. When I say did them herself, I'm talking shoving an earring through a bit of skin, and when i say all her piercings, i'm talking nose, lip, nipple...

It's just risky. Nose isn't as bad as nipple, I'll grant you that, but it's still right in the niddle of your face. What if it gets infected and you end up with a big red scar on your nose? I'd rather just wait a while and get it professionalyl done, myself.

Plus, I heard the your nose (septum or nostril) is like one of the most painful piercings? I want it done, and I could, but I'm a big fat wuss.

i wouldnt bother getting anything numbed. your only taking the edge off it, its still about the same amount of pain. in my experience anyway. plus it can interfere with the healing..
its only gonna be sore for like 3 seconds anyway.
