So...I have very little sewing experience...and I was wondering if anyone knew any patterns or could offer advice for making a corset.

Corsets are kinda tricky because most of them have boning in them (at the seams to make the the right shape) The best advice I can give you is to get a pattern by Vogue or Burda which will include step by step instructions. These patterns cost a bit more but trust me the cheeper patterns hardly ever fit right. If you have any other questions just ask....I do alot of sewing.

I looked in to making a corset before and it seemed really hard. If you are really set on a corset, you should probably get one made for you...I mean if you have little experience and then fabric, patterns, boning etc...and if you fuck up its time wasted as well as materials...

A corset is probably something you should leave until you have a bit more experience sewing. When I was in school we did'nt even learn that until the second year! (fashion school, I mean)

mhm. there are websites, just go to yahoo and type in "how to make corsets" or "corset making". you'll get a lot of stuff up! but I suggest practicing a little with simple patterns...cos it really is quite difficult. but then again, the challenge is the fun part. ;]

There are TONS of corset making sites out there. I shall post links when I'm not lazy....LOL!

Boning can be tricky (and hard on the hands). One thing you can use that is cheaper than buying actual boning are those plastic zip ties. Get the heavy industrial ones. Also, for the busk, you can use those paint mixing sticks. Smile
