PostSubject: Say what?   Say what? EmptyFri Aug 31, 2007 5:15 pm

Question for all my curvy ladies out thurrr.
Has torrid sizing seemed to change to you?
Because before I lost the weight, I was a size one in their shirts.
Then I lost weight, but I gained a weeee bit back and now I'ma two.
But I weigh like a lot less than I did when I started shopping in there!
I just don't get it.
It pisses me off too, because they had an andy warhol shirt on sale for ten bucks, (Andy = my idol) it was a size one, and too small!
Please don't tell me I'm losing my ever loving mind.

i think it really just depends on the brand
like some pants, i can wear a 20 and some i have to go up to a 24 and it's the same with shirts, i usually wear a 0 or a 1, but sometimes 0s are too big and sometimes i have to go up to a 4
it's really insane and extremely agravating
i don't think your going crazy, i just think the brands torrid carries are like everyother store, some do vanity sizing, some do normal sizing and others do their own thing
it also could be like bloating and stuff, i bought a pair of pants for school that were a lil snug and i figured i'd just wear a tunic type sweater and when i wore them to school, they fit perfect

Yeah, I think all brands should be the same sizing, its so annoying to buy something like from online and then come to find out, it fits more like a S than a L or whatever. I usually always try to go one size bigger especially with Hot Topic stores, I always have to find the 2X or 3X of their shirts cuz their sizes are for crack addicts.

Heehee. So true. I swear there is a race of mini people running about that we can't see or something.

Most stores have REALLY small sizes. I was in Toronto yesterday and had worn a long sleeved top and was SOOOOO hot. So I went to buy a tank or T-shirt, and they were so small across my chest, I ended up with squashed boobs. What size of boobs should a L or XL lady have, for goddess sake????

But if I shop at Addition Elle or Penningtons, or even Reitman's Encore section, the shirts that are L or XL are HUGE on me. Makes me think it's a man creating the sizes in those other stores. Wink

See!
This is why amanda neverrrr shops online.
Ever.
I'm way too picky about the way things fit.
And honestly, I don't even shop in the girls section at hot topic.
Its useless.
If you have big tits, there's no way your fitting them into their shirts.
I go straight to mens mediums.
Mhmmm.

I know.
I honestly hate shopping now.
Its a pain in my ass.
And it depresses the hell outta me sometimes.
Which I hate to admit.

Hmm, you'll have to move here or I'll have to move there to reduce shipping costs. Since, of course, moving wouldn't cost near as much. Wink I can sew a bit, I just prefer not having to put the effort in on stuff I buy. If I make something from scratch it's cool, but buying something in a store, it should damn well fit.

Im not a big girl, but clothes shopping discourages me sometimes because I havent found a decent bra...at all. Im a 38 D, with a tiny waist and body frame in general, so clothes shopping anywhere else but old navy is a nightmare.

if my chest suited my body frame, I'd be a small/medium,
but since theyre big, Im a medium/large.

not bad, you say.

but because my waist is so small,
when I go to pull on a tee that says large,
it fits my boobs, then tents out, and it wont curve to my waist,
so I look bigger than I am.

if its a medium, then instead of fitting all around, it wont even go across my chest and I have to settle or not buy at all. and if it DOES fit, when my bra slips, all people notice is how low my breasts are in the top. so then I cant even wear it because the flaw is so obvious.

which is what happened when mum got me two new school tops...a fuckin large is too big on me, but its all I can handle; a medium may have been too small for me.

basically, old navy is the only place with decent tops that suit me;
I can wear a medium with no prob, although my boobs still kinda stand out since I wear the polos for school...thats why I was so happy about this black hoodie, my chest isnt noticeable; in fact, it looks better!

now you guys know why I made the topic about my boobs:
theyve ruined fashion for me,
and my goddamn health to boot.

Im STILL made fun of about this shit. ick.

yeah but they 'apparently' take sizes off the 'average women' for that size....

Razz

which is why in supre i'm an xxs and in myer i'm a medium

but yeah i just cut out the pattern for a really cute little cross over bodice dress. so pretty!

Puffy: try wearing button up shirts (you can get them in jersey knit, cotton, etc). Buy them so they fit your boobs, then take them in at the waist, so they show your curves.

My grandma always had issues with HUUUUUUGE boobs, and actually had to "bind" them with fabric or those tensor bandages when she was young.

I think Torrid has gotten sucked into the whole "vanity sizing" thing.

A few months ago I was looking at their size charts and a size 12 was
CHEST= 38 1/2- 40 inches
WAIST= 31-33 1/2 inches
HIPS= 41- 43 inches

Now it's
CHEST= 40 1/2- 42 inches
WAIST= 33 1/2- 35 inches
HIPS= 43 1/2- 45 inches

wtf??

my family has even told me to wrap my boobs up whenever I go somewhere, but...gah, its so pointless to me!

and button up shirts are actually my fav. they usually fit the curve of my waist, but they wont fit my boobs, so I cant button them across...tearrr. >.<

I think what Shauna meant was buy one big enough to fit your boobs, which will be big for your waist but then take it in so that it fits your waist too.

this could be totally pointless...but have you tried wearing a belt?
i think a shirt with a cute little belt across it looks awesome.
would work with a long tshirt too.

i got a kkkeeeeeyyyyooot belt the other day - neon pink elasticated with a big black loveheart on it.

nah - draws more attention to the breast area.

and the trend, as Ive seen, doesnt look so fab on bigger girls,
because it draws attention to their middle,
instead of their gorgeous legs!

but that's just me.

plus, everyone does that at school.
my classmates know that's not my style,
and I'd rather not look like a robot ;-;

seriously, they know me so well in my class.
at least, the ones that arent assholes. >.<
