burlesque show

my best friend is performing in a burlesque show at a local club and she wants me to go, but i have no idea what to wear.
apparently its meant to be either burlesque-esque, or moulin rouge style.
I dont want to spend too much money, but i think i might have to invest in a corset or something.
also has anyone got any suggestions about what i can do with my hair (pretty long, dark brown) and makeup (im veryy pale).

huge huge updo with curls.

pale powder with bright blush and lips,
heavy on the mascara - long luxe lashes are your best friend;
light on the eyeshadow, a taupe colour is best;
and make sure that your brows are shaped nicely.

Great ideas for makeup. Make sure to use liquid liner, and do a little bit of an extension (almost cat-eye-ish) at the outer edge. And bright red lips are yummy!

When I went to a burlesque show, I wore my black corset and a nice full skirt in a pink/black/white almost Hawaiian print (very 40s/50s style), and cute strappy wedge heels.

You should do victory rolls with a side parting and add a fascinator to the side with the smallest amount of hair. You can get cheap fascinators in dorothy perkins...at the moment they are half price =]
For make-up, Think snow white, Flawless pale skin (lots of foundation) a teeny bit of blusher Lots of mascara on the upper lashes, bright red matte lips and filled in brows =]

For clothes, don't invest in a corset if you don't have a lot of money. The important thing for looking moulin rouge-ish is to have a can-can skirt! You can probably get a petticoat for not very much. Pick a color scheme, something bright mixed with black and white is probably good. A bright petticoat is good, then wear black fishnets or vertically striped black tights, heels and a sexy black top. The top can be sparkly too. Also, I'd wear a top hat or put a feather in my hair. Any dress could really work if it had a good skirt. I like this
